Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Just a simple child as a beta reader. Not sure how to fill this out, but I'll just do as I can by typing in what it tells me to. My beta reading style? Well, I didn't know you had to have a style to read. I guess... I'm just a reader? Anyways, now for requirements? Well, for a coupling story, I'm fine with hetero, yaoi, and yuri. Just as long as it is not smut, it's alright. So yeah, I'm just a sort of maybe a non-professional critic/reader. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
You have to excel at certain aspects of reading? I knew this not. Well... I do like- no, this is for strengths, I have no idea what my strengths as a reader are. Umm... I'm observant?Oh wait, also as a writer, alright, now I can put a bit here for that. Well, I do like to make a story make sense and have things consistent, as well as things to make sense. Does that work? |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Ok, now this is the part that I excel at fulfilling. Weakness I have is probably keeping track of consistent environment, but I guess that can be a sort of a strength. I will have no trouble with tracking the environment. Another is that if a story starts to drag on a bit, I have a habit of rather quickly skimming the story to get to the interesting part, which lead me to confusion half the time I do decide to do this.Now, as a writer, this will be a much bigger section. Well, first off, I'm probably way to sympathetic with characters, and want to sometimes put even the bad guy at a right. I'm guessing that I just like someone so much, that I don't really like making them the bad guy. I even sympathize with Ganondorf of all people, so I feel sorry for him. But- it's still something I need to work on.
I try to keep a character as much in character as I can, but I find it difficult at times. Another problem, if I do manage to keep a consistent main villain of a story, I have trouble with motive for their various evil actions. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I do like me some romance, and some humor, but especially when they are blended rather well. But other than that, I'm rather open to nearly any story. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Except smut. Granted, it's probably sexy, but not quite something I'd want to beta read. But other than smut, I'm still a rather open flexible guy, and if you just tried to twist that in your mind to get a giggle out of it, I WILL find you.Another thing I dislike are gary sues, or making a character into a gary sue. I mean, yeah, it's nice to have someone who is perfect at everything they do, but making them perfect at absolutely everything? I mean, singing, cooking, and being able to be a perfect golfer once they first picked up the golf club, and being able to easily defeat the big bad, I mean, it gets really boring after while, try to keep them human while still keeping them as a good character! Then again, with my other story, I have that problem as well. Still need to fix! |
