Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Oh how I love making stories. Oh, wait! Hello, beta-reader here. I like reading...well, what beta-reader doesn't? Anyways, I look into stories and dig into them. While I have reviewed stories in a manner of just complimenting them, I'm more than willing to whip a few constructive criticism; a story does not mature on praise alone, since nothing is perfect, even in its self-proclaimed "finished". When I do review a story (I've done so for many for the past decade, both in-real-life and on the web), I do make sure to review the story twice, read it out loud (not in volume, but say in words than just reading), and...as you can already tell, I do make my explanations long, but hopefully full of useful data. When I do get requests, I respond with a review within two weeks, but when I am busy, I'll respond without a review in the same amount of time with a review within a month (depends). Exceptions...I'll take up most offers, but just brace for any rejections...case-by-case as some would say... |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
As mentioned above, at least a decade of writing and script-reviewing. Keen on details and experienced in understanding a given core of the writer's intentions. Very proficient in English, along with other languages. (Japanese and English are my main, while French, German, Italian, Russian and a couple others are comprehensible to me.) Tagged with my detailed imagery skills, there is no dialogue/description that will be too hard to imagine for me. Be it romantic, action...or gory... *blegh* And hopefully, my long responses are not a setback, since "more the merrier"...? |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Due to my highly imaginative mind, things that might cross the line of "inhumane" or "weird"...will make me puke; not for real, but definitely it won't make me feel too well as I read. I can handle it though, but make note I'm still human and such imagery will be the same as experience it first-hand for me... |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Romance, with an R. I have specific preference when it comes to coupling, but yeah, romantic romance! Also, I lean more to anime/manga, but come ye who gives me stories from games, novels and other stuff that is not anime/manga! Now mix the two above together and you'll somewhat see what I like most: Anime/manga Rom-Com! But don't hold-back for any other story; I'll help on what I can! To name a few anime manga (these are not restrictions): Nisekoi, The World God Only Knows, Hayate no Gotoku, Natsume Yuujinchou, Minami-ke, and others more (listing them all...would lead to listing all the anime which I like the pairings for...) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Errr...I don't have anything against them, but same-sex pairing...is not my usual cup of tea...yeah, I'm looking at all you Shonen Sport stories that pairs the MC with other male characters... |
