Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I enjoy writing and I enjoy reading GOOD fiction. Obviously this statement comes with a bit of conceit, since "what is good" is so subjective. But, I enjoy good plot, nice twists, correct spelling and grammar, clear style and tone and some realistic resemblance to the source material. Even AUs should keep the characters' voices and enough continuity from the source material to merit being called a fan fiction. I enjoy copy editing and enforcing these norms. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths are copyediting and maintaining a character's voice. If you read the feedback on my own stories, you will see that I often receive compliments on the latter. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I become bored with particularly bad stories. Also, I REALLY love angst, so the less of it, the less my interest holds. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I have included three comedies in my beta preferences, so humor is welcome. But, as I've said, I really love angst and hurt/comforts. Also, I (like most people) do not enjoy re-tread clichés. Come up with original scenarios for old beloved characters. This is not to say I prefer AUs, as I really like seeing people use canon to expound a dropped plot bunny from a show or movie. I also love "missing scenes", parts missing from the show when it skips to "two days later." Tell me about those two missing days. I also prefer one-shots, but I'll beta fics beyond 5,000 words, I just won't promise I'll finish. Again, bad attention span. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
My rating preference goes up to T. While I'm no prude, please don't include graphic sex scenes or 156 occurrences of the f-bomb. Thank you. |
