Where betareading is concerned, I look for how consistent and put together something is written. For example in stories I look at the plot as a whole then I begin breaking it up into sections as I read through. I expect to see that an author has at the very least spellchecked their work before submitting it for betareading. Also, I expect the author to have at least a grasp of how grammar and punctuation should go, as well as how they are able to be manipulated to suit something such as a story. I work as a Medical transcriptionist, and my attention/attentiveness to detail and the quality of the work I do are of the utmost importance to me.

My strengths are the English language which is inclusive of punctuation, narration, grammar, etc. I am able to help someone to fix things in their stories or works they themselves may not see. An objective eye sometimes sees something a non-objective eye cannot. The quality of my work is in the 99% range of accuracy, and I have no problems helping others with the fine details I have so often times seen missing from stories I have read in the past.

Some of my weaknesses are historical references and/or facts, though I do try to validate before correcting something for someone. I will send back the original along with a revised version so my corrections, suggestions, or improvements are noticeable and easy to spot.

I would prefer to read things that are more reality-based. By this I mean a non-alternate universe type of writing. There are some instances where I can and have no trouble reading alternate universe storylines, but typically if I am reading stories I like to stick for the most part to the original ideas of what the fiction is based on.

I'm not adverse or against alternate universe, science fiction, or alternate reality works, but I prefer to stick to current universe and reality as much as possible.
