I prefer to beta for writers that are more committed to their stories than I am. I mostly look for internal timeline errors whether or not the internal timeline matches canon, like if you wanted harry born in 1985 instead of 1980 that's fine as long as he goes to school in the correct year when he would be the age you specified he would start school, or if you killed someone at a certain time I would make sure any time mentioning that death was accurate, or things of that nature. I also try for any spelling errors you might have missed or missing words, and if something doesn't sound correct to me I will let you know and give you a suggestion how I think you can make what you are trying to say come across clearer. I do sometimes focus too much on little things like commas so you need to tell me if I do that and you don't like it.

Internal timeline consistence and flow of story is general where my strengths lie.

sometimes i over use periods when a different punctuation is called for and sometimes I use too many commas because I think they are needed when they might not be.

I prefer betaing Harry Potter M rated fics where harry either doesn't have a romantic pairing or it is with Hermione, Fleur, Gabrielle, Daphne, Nymphadora, Lily Evans Potter, or Lily Luna Potter. Harem fics i do too as long as their is no Pansy Parkinson.

I tend to not read slash fics, a M/M/F threesome is ok but i am talking straight (LOL) slashes. especially any ones where harry is with a Malfoy, Snape, or Voldemort. I also don't like harry/ginny pairings or harry with any slytherin except Daphne Greengrass or Tracey Davis. also any stories that have a scifi tag or a supernatural tag i dont like. I would also like to only beta stories not rated M if it is in the humor genre.
