I've always loved stories, but making my own is so much fun! Combine that with my love for helping people to succeed, beta reading is perfect for me! I will always try my best to correct a story (if it really needs to be) and explain what should be fixed.

Having brothers and a mother who are obsessed with saying or spelling things wrong ,and major OCD, has made it easier for me to spot simple little spelling and grammar mistakes that others might skip past. Therefore, if you're insecure about your spelling and/or grammar, I'd happily oblige to be your beta reader.

If I have to beta for someone with a different interest (such as the Hunger Games Peeta/Gale war, as I call it) I may have a difficult time correcting fairly if I'm on the other side, but I will try my hardest. I also won't be able to beta for a story that updates every day.

I would prefer to beta over more popular book selections, because I've probably read them already and would know the characters and story line. (I can do crossovers, though, from a different category, i.e. Books crossed with a TV show.)

I definitely wouldn't like to beta read for anime and tv shows and all that jazz, I'd much rather stick to the books category. (I seriously can't do anime)
