I tend to read the story/chapter once fully, to get the feel of the plot/characters before even thinking about any possible changes in style or structure that could be implemented. After that I pick out any glaringly obvious 'mistakes' and then delve deeper and deeper until I am 100% happy that I have done the best job I can for you. br /

I expect you to be patient within reason (especially if the chapter/story is particularly long - over 3000 words - or complex). If you are not happy with the way I am editing then, as the saying goes, 'honesty is the best policy!' Tell me and I will change the way I edit based on your requirements - after all, it's your story!

Please, please, please! Do not message me asking me to basically fix and write the whole thing for you. I don't mean to say this patronisingly, it's just I've had one such request and was astonished when I read the story through and realised that there wasn't really a story there at all! The writer wanted me to add: 'spelling, punctuation, grammar, some dialogue and a bit of description'. As fellow writers I have to ask you - what could actually be in the document they had sent? (basically it was a string of ideas going on for pages and pages that, try as I might, I couldn't make head or tail of). Other than that, send me anything!
