Having a collegiate education in English literature, creative writing and theater, I figured that I would enjoy beta-ing stories for other people. I've been writing for a couple of years.

As a writer I am more focused on stylistic choices rather than action, and that transfers to my beta-reading. I am very focused on character building and the relationships between characters.

I would be communicative via email. I'll read it multiple times, first as a normal reader, then as an editor. That being said, I won't be rewriting a majority of the text.

Character development and exploration, even if it's veering away from canon, and fleshing out characters/staying in character.

How dialogue sounds, and the rhythm of words and silence, from my theater/play-writing experience.

Descriptions of setting, objects, and people-just lots of description.

Grammar-I can definitely spot out the major errors, but if it's a minor error I probably will leave it alone.

Also, I don't particularly care about following the original work-'canon'-religiously, and have a really bad memory for small details, so probably won't pick up on diversions from the it.

I prefer a predominant romance-driven plot greatly, and am fine with both hetero and slash. Also, I love exploration into a minor game character's backstory and how it fits with the main setting.

I would only beta stories based on a book/movie/etc that I'm familiar with, though.

Very short drabbles, character reflections without any incidence, and rewrites/novelizations.

Also, I am opposed to certain pairings that just don't make sense to me (FFXII Vann/Balthier, Dragon Age II Hawke/Anders, Pirates of the Caribbean Jack/Elizabeth). And as always, no Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus. Or Twilight-not even a parody of it, because some things just don't deserve that much attention.
