Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Alright, this is my first time as a beta-reader, so as I get better, I'll update this Profile. I'm Anelya, but if I beta-read for you, you are free to call me Kayle. I'm fourteen at the moment, and still in school, which is why I prefer to offer my services as a beta-reader then as a writer. I will do both, but I think I'd be a better beta-reader. My beta-reading style will be mine. I read quickly, and easily notice mistakes, exspescially grammatical errors. I will do my best to read what you want me to right away, so that you may post it as soon as possible. I will make sure to read everything twice, just to make sure I got any typos and grammatical errors. If you acquire my services, you can expect a hard worker. I'm very good at working at something once I put my mind to it. I've decided that this will be one of those things. I promise to do my best, which is, I hope, quite good. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very good grammatically. I notice grammar mistakes quickly and easily. They jump out of the page at me! I have a pretty good (I think) range of vocabulary, and if I notice that you're using the same words, or word, a lot, I will certainly be able to find you some other suitable options. I'm quite creative and have a great imagination, so if you need help with a plot or storyline, I think I could be of service. I'm sorta a spelling freak, and words that I do know, I will notice if they're wrong. Okay, since I kinda had to sign up for the 'All Books' section, I might not know some of the books that I'm asked to beta-read for. So, if I agree to beta-read for you, and you would need me to read the book, I would. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Well, I go to school in Switzerland, which means that we don't learn much English. Because of this I'm a little rusty on my English grammar rules. I am, however, currently taking an extracurricular English course. Because of the same reason, my spelling is a little off sometimes, another reason why I prefer to beta-read, as when reading I notice the mistakes much better. Just to make sure, I shall run everything through a spell-checker. Oh, and you'll need to tell me if you use British or American spelling beforehand, as I use British and might count it as wrong when it's actually right if I don't know. Again, since I go to school, I might not have as much time as I'd like to beta-read. I promise to check every day, however, to see if you need my help. If you do happen to aquire my services, I will notify you if I cannot beta-read for a while. Also, I live in Switzerland, so if you ask for my help, I may only recieve the PM or notification, however this works, later on. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I love fantasy stories, so if you need those I'll be great for them. I also put some preferred books and TV shows on my list, so if you need any of those, I have read almost all the books through at least more than once and know them quite well. I could correct any background history mistakes and such. As for the tv shows, well, I still watch 'em, so I'll know them pretty well. I prefer romance stories over, well... other stories. If yours has romance as a main, count me in. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Basically, just one. If your story has a girl who has loads of boyfriend drama, like three or four at once that she's somehow weirdly together with, I will most likely not beta-read it. I will first look through the story, and see if I like it enough to beta-read. But, I'm sorry, I usually can't stand that type of drama. Other than that, there's the overreacting drama that so many writers love to give their girls. If she sees him kiss a girl for a second, why does he have to think he's cheating?! Am I theonly rational girl out here that would talk about it first? I mean, sure, if he'd kissed her for five minutes, and he'd been the one to intiate it, then I sorta get it. But otherwise... nu-uh. |
