Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I try to my best ability to help you with your writing. I will do as asked, but please, please, remember that your story isn't the only thing going in my life. If I will be busy for the next few days, I''ll try my best to tell you over a PM in advance. I correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes, I help with sentence structures, and help develop your story and characters. I tend to highlight things and each color will correspond to a type of change that I have made. I prefer medium-long stories, however, not too long. Long starts from 5,000-20,000 words per chapter. So around 2,000-5,000 words are my preference. I will read stories only in fandoms that I am familiar with, so if you ask me to beta read something I don't know about, I will not accept. I tend to ask for a summary, fandom, genre, pairing (if any) before deciding if I will beta this story because I am quite picky. There are several things that should be checked over your story/chapter before sending it to me. They will be listed below. My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm quite a vivacious reader, however, I give constructive criticism and not much positive feedback, because I believe in changing mistakes for the better, not softening the blow so you will not change your mistakes. I'm sorry if I come off harsh or unappreciative. I'm strong descriptions and development. I'm quite a writer with descriptions and several people tell me my descriptions over small things can be quite tedious. If you don't have enough details, I can help with that. I can conjure of story ideas too, but not all the time. I have lots of story ideas that some can use for some fandom but you'd have to give credit, but anyways. I love reading, so I can read long stories, but sometimes I don't have time. I can help you develop your characters and plot, but I won't help too much, because I want the story that you wrote yourself, to turn the way you want it to. I'll give you small tips and add some small turns, but its up to you to make the twists and choose the direction you want this story to go to. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I sometimes spell words that I know wrongly, though not all the time :) My grammar isn't the best heh heh so I'm not be able to help you with that. Sometimes I won't give enough positive words and I hope that you don't get discouraged because of that. Sometimes I won't understand where you are coming from so I might change it and it might ruin all of your story. Please don't hesitate to tell me if you disagree with my changes and I'll try to see where you come from. Sometimes I won't notice if the character is being OOC, or I think that they are being out-of-character when they aren't. Again, please don't hesitate to notify that you disagree with me. I can't say I'm that good at titles, but I'm okay with them. I don't do well with fluff, but that's writing it. Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I tend to beta stories that have my favorite pairings in them. That's why I ask for the pairings in the story first. If I don't ship them, I may still beta them, but if I simply hate them, I won't beta them. I like cute and fluffy stories, they make me warm inside XD I also beta angst, tragedy, a little bit of romance, sort of action, fantasy, and hurt/comfort. I only read stories rated T or lower, please NO M stories. I like to beta things that I'm familiar with. Yup, that's it :) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I would really prefer not to beta stories that are overly violent or going into the M rated world. I don't like creading crack-fics or those that have OC centered stories please. I'd like an overview of your main character. If it's canon, please give a description of what they would be like in the story. NO COPYING FROM WIKI OR ANYTHING, I want to see what the character would be like in your story. If I feel like there are mary-sues in your story, I will NOT beta your story. No yuri/yaoi, I'm just not a fan of those stories. If it's like a sisterly/brotherly fic, then I'm okay with it. But not incest incest. Please, I will not beta stories that talk lke dis. no txt tlk plz. I also won't beta a story will many grammar and spelling issues. Yes I'm here to help with that stuff, but I'm not supposed to change every single letter in your chapter.
