My goal as a beta-reader is to help writers do the best work they are capable of, and in the process improve my own editing and writing skills. I also want to increase my skill with Portuguese and Spanish, so if you have a story in either of those two languages that you want help translating into English, I would be happy to lend you my skills. I expect you to have proofread your work BEFORE sending it to me. It's annoying to get things that are "hot off the press," full of typos and basic grammatical errors. If you miss a typo here and there or make honest grammar mistakes, that's fine-that's what I'm here for. But please don't waste my time with things you should have fixed yourself.

I am pretty darn good at grammar, spelling, and style. I can also tell you if your characterization is good, and what you can do to get the character's personality and motivations across to your audience better. I will also tell you if the character's actions make sense in the context of the plot, based on their personality.

I'm not so good at plot, especially if you start writing a multi-chap story without really knowing where it's going. I will inevitably have my own ideas about how the story should turn out, which may not mesh with yours. It's better if you come to me with a pretty solid plot already in mind. I enjoy humor and parody, but I'm not so good at it myself. I'm also going to be very honest and frank about what I think of your work, which can be considered a strength, but some sensitive souls may take my criticism the wrong way and be personally insulted. Believe me, that's not my intent. It just saves time to be straight with people.

I'm good with AUs and non-canon pairings if they make sense and are done well. I prefer to stick to canon, though. Pretty much any genre is fair game. I don't have a problem with reading same-sex relationships or graphic material. I would also prefer that you only ask me to beta for the fandoms listed below, since I'm more interested in and familiar with those.

I will NOT read Mpreg. Don't even ask. I do not care for rape in stories. I also usually don't like stories where an OC is the main protagonist or stories that pair an OC with a main canon character. Songfics aren't really my thing either.
