I've never been a huge fan of grammar, to be honest. I'd rather have a story with good direction, a strong plot and deep characters than one that sticks to every single obscure rule of English grammar but has major plot holes and wooden characters. Vocabulary is just as important as plot and characters; a fanfic will draw much more attention if it uses a strong, varied vocabulary rather than repetitive words and phrases. As a beta-reader, I want to have the chance to read and critique plot and characters rather than grammar, and I am very interested in finding undiscovered talent amongst the tens of thousands of users who write because they love to. I see writing as a passion, rather than something that needs to be done; it's not work, which has to be done on time. It's art, and cannot be rushed simply for the sake of quantity or for the sake of time; I believe in quality in all forms of art, writing especially, and while critiquing am looking for quality above all else.

My expertise lies in critiquing and praising the variable aspects of a story's characters. I will be more negative on stories with less characters, and will have less critique to do on them. On the other hand, a story with more characters will have more criticism given to it but will deserve far more praise for having an intricate web of people that make up its character list.

My weakness lies in grammar and being mean. I hate grammar, and do not understand or bother to understand the more obscure rules of it. I'm also a very nice person, and sometimes find criticism hard, especially if someone has tried very hard but still produces poor, but not necessarily sloppy work.

I prefer action/adventure and supernatural the most, but I will do science fiction and drama stories. All of those categories appeal to me, some more than others.

I will almost certainly not betaread comedy or romance novels. If there are snippets of comedy or romance in an otherwise action/adventure-oriented fanfic I will be happy to read them. However, comedy and romance strictly do not appeal to me, and thus I will not read them at all unless they look incredibly appealing or interesting.
