I'm a university English and Writing graduate, and I wish to become a professional editor (as soon as any actual jobs in the field open up). I think beta-ing is great experience and practice for what I want to pursue for a profession. However, I do have some expectations when it comes to stories I will accept as a beta:

1. Stories I beta must be written at at least a high school level of English. That means written in paragraphs, with decent spelling and grammar.

2. I do NOT do OC/Mary Sue-centric fics. The point of fan fiction, IMO, is to have more stories featuring the characters we already know and love. OCs are ok to include if well-written, and if they are *supporting characters*, NOT the protagonists.

My strength is keeping things consistant. I remember plot details and can help to make sure authors don't contradict their own writing. I can also help with characterization, with keeping characters consistant and realistic.

I think I tend to be a little too critical sometimes, and can inadvertedly come off as rude. Please point it out to me if I do this.

I would prefer to beta stories in genres that I have written in myself, in the last 5 years (I'll consider others on a case by case basis), because I know the world and know (at least basically) what to expect. For any other requests, if I know the world, I can probably help. Don't be afraid to ask.

For FMA stories, no Envy yaoi please. Straight fics are fine. I write Envy as a girl myself, so I have a difficult time seeing her as male. Also, no Ed/Roy. I have nothing against gay pairings, it's the fact that Ed and Roy's relationship in canon is more parental, so deviating from that so extremely is breaking believability, IMO. br /

For Transformers fiction, I will not beta human/Transformer romance fics. I just can't see a giant, alien robot whose species isn't even based on the same chemical element as ours having a relationship with a human. It pushes the line of believability just too /

I'm not doing Star Wars Expanded Universe beta-ing either, as I haven't read any of the books since the first three "Legacy of the Force Novels". Besides, what used to be my Star Wars fanon is evolving into my own universe (George Lucas has enough money - he doesn't need my free advertizing), so I'm focusing on that. br /

I also will not beta any stories if your introductory PM or email is written using bad grammar.
