I betaread mostly for grammar, especially for those who have English as a second (or more) language. I'd like to think that I'm pretty gentle. I'm not going to question the premise/basis/foundation of your story, whether or not I agree with it. I may look for plot holes, but only if they're obvious and I'm familiar with the fandom. I'm also pretty dependable- I get your story back to you within a reasonable time, and if I can't, I'll let you know as soon as possible.

Grammar in general is my strength. I'm good at rephrasing things to make them sound more smooth and less awkward. I'll help with spelling and punctuation. For fandoms I know well, I can help with characterizations/figuring out a character's motives or thoughts. For fandoms I don't know about, I can usually get a general idea very quickly, enough to help with a story.

As a writer, I have trouble "showing" rather than "telling", and tend to ramble on a little too much. I don't think I'd be much help with someone looking to trim words or throw out scenes, as I prefer to keep everything. I'm also not much of a fact finder- I don't really pay attention to things that contradict canon unintentionally, unless it's something like "Ron Weasley is an only child" or "Tony Stark and Loki don't have daddy issues".

Slash is great! So are gen and het stories! Anything, really, except for what's listed below, and even then I'm still pretty flexible.

I'm not really a fan of excessive angst or rape/non-con, especially used as a way to simply hurt the character even more. I tend to avoid stories where infidelity is a major point. There are some pairings I can't stomach or don't care about as the main focus, though background relationships are fine. If you're sexist, racist, homophobic, or otherwise prejudiced, I can't beta for you. If the story is about one those things and a character displays intolerant attitudes, that's fine; it's when the author him/herself is blatantly prejudiced that I can't help.
