Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
As a beta-reader, I check to make sure there aren't any grammar errors and that the characters are in character. I might have a betareading style, but I'm not quite sure what they are. So, for the sake of things, let's say I don't have one. The only expectations I have is that you really try to stay in character. Also, if I haven't read the book, or seen the episode it takes place in, at least tell me a little about it. If you make a new character, tell me about their character. Another thing is I would like to see a plot that isn't overused. They can get pretty annoying. Don't worry too much (you should still worry a little) about grammar errors, 'cause that's what I'm here for! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My strengths would have to be keeping things in character, descriptions, comebacks, some fight scenes. I'm pretty good with angst, but I'm not a master at it. I have a pretty good sense of humor, so I can work with that as well. I can also spot most grammar errors from a mile away. Helping you word something that you just feel like you can't is something else I'm good at. I have a pretty big vocabulary, so if you feel like you're using the same words over and over again, I can especially help with that. I watch and read a lot more than is listed on my profile, so you can just ask me if I read or watch it. I have a lot of time on my hands, so I can get things done pretty quickly. I'm more on the artistic side, which usually means I have a lot of creativity. I may not be able to write poetry, but I can recognise if a poem is good or not. I'm also not one for downplaying things. If I think you should change something, I'll suggest it as nicely as I can. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses would definitely have to be with kissing scenes. But I am working on it. I cannot help anyone with any kind of lemons. Well, actually just the really graphic kind. It would be kinda uncomfortable. I'm not a huge romantic, so I'm not too good at that, but I can tell you if it's a good romance scene. I also can't right poetry to save my life. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I'm okay with romance, drama, angst, hurt/comfort, humor, parodies, and general. Mystery, adventure, friendship, family, crime, and suspense are alright. I don't really like them, but I can work with them. I can tell you if a poem is well-written, but more than likely I steer clear of it. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Not My Cup Of Tea? Lol. OK then. I would have to say tragedy, because I'm a sucker for a happy ending, whether or not I'm a romantic. I'd also have to say poetry, because I can't work with poems to save my life. I can recognise a well written one, though. Sci-fi, spirtiual, supernatural, fantasy, and western aren't my favorites either along with horror. I don't mind horror, but I'd rather not read it. I refuse to work with slash couples unless they are gay in the show/book/movie/or whatever it is the character is in. |
