I am just starting out with beta reading at this point in time, but I am excited to help others. As a beatreader, I would first read throughout the entry to ascertain the story and overall goal of the piece. Then, I would do a hard read for spelling, correct word usage and grammar, then focus on fixing perceived mistakes in another color if possible and/or writing suggestions on the bottom of the document. Afterward, I would look for characterization and logic of the fandom and characters to see if they are properly met- if relevant to the goal of the story (e.g. works of parody often ignore these). If anything is not clear or is questionable, I would message the author over the content.

I'm totally new at this point, but my strengths in writing and editing include: proper usage of grammar and spelling, tense matching, and varying sentence structure and wording. I am willing to look over lore of the fandom in question and to fact check as well. I also concentrate on paragraph structuring to make for an easy and comfortable experience for the reader.

My weakness is mostly my inexperience as a beta reader. I have acted as an editor for many formal papers and school works, but I have not really looked over other's fiction thus far. I may have perfectionistic qualities in my writing though, I try not to clash with the original content and message of the author.

I prefer stories with supernatural/fantasy, horror, romantic, and/or psychological elements. I love adventure too! I don't mind whether the story has homosexual or heterosexual romance, or none at all. Crossover fiction can be very interesting and enjoyable to me.

I'm not a fan of stories concentrating on original characters (Mary Sues and Gary Stus) unless the entire story is original. I also detest self-inserts and high school alternate-universes. I will not beta any stories containing adult romantic relationships with a child. I do not excel at poetry and generally dislike song-tics.
