Hello, all. Since I visit this site pretty regularly I thought it only fair to contribute to it by, if possible, helping others in their works. Beta reading is after all something very useful to polish up one's stories, and if only to find all the little mistakes the own control readings may not have found. Thus, I'd expect 'polishing up' to be the main task of beta-reading, though really, I'd also not be averse to give constructive criticism beyond that. That being said, I am a newbie in the beta-reading field, so that as a fair 'caveat emptor'.

If need be and if so wished, I think I can give pretty detailed criticisms, though as said I would not insist on doing so. Also, I think I am good in offering constructive criticisms with suggestions of alternatives, as said if so wished. I chose a narrow band of preferred fandoms because I do think I am very well versed in all of them, so that would be another plus. Oh, and currently I have much time on my hands, so in any case I should be able to quickly return any work send my way.

While I find control readings to be a if not the major part of beta-reading, I may not be able to catch every little mistake, at least going by my own control readings of my own work. Also, my language style is a bit, hm, over-formalised at times. My vocabulary concerning slang, informal speech and regionalism might hence be lacking. If you want to have a dialogue sounding particularly working class or southern or whatever I am surely not the right person for it!

Well thought-out works; that is I'd prefer fics that are not just dribbled or on spontaneous on-the-spot exercises - but that being said, I'd be willing to go through those as well, and I am very well aware that those probably form the majority of fics here. So, really, just trying to fill out the preference field, for now I don't think I will shy away from a fic as long as it doesn't fall under the "Not my Cup of Tea" criteria.

If it's not in my preference fandoms, then most likely I will not touch it, simply because those are the ones where I feel secure in my knowledge (And that being said, in the case of Dune that only includes the original series by Frank Herbert, not prequels or sequels). Besides that, as a matter of personal taste I simply cannot stand self-inserts, and hence won't beta-read them, either. Same with stories centring around unrealistic crack pairings. Both types of fics always make me already groan upon only reading the summaries. Oh, and fics that are just there to push an ideological viewpoint. Not acceptable, either.
