Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
For some unknown reason, I can't divide this description into paragraphs, which means you are going to have to take a deep breath and pray you get to the end without wanting to rip your eyes out. So, my name is Marta, but you can call me Lux. As a betareader, I usually read everything no more than three times, but I generally stop at the first read, unless I'm not convinced about something in particular. That doesn't mean I don't pay attention to details - on the contrary, expect me to be strict on grammar and syntax (if you don't know what the latter is, then I'm probably not your ideal betareader). I love to discover the story while I read it, so I'd prefer not to be told much about the chapters before reading them. It's not that important, though - of course, we can discuss about how you want to continue or work around your plot, if you wish. If you're looking for proof that I'm a good betareader, then DO NOT read my fanfictions. I wrote those a lifetime ago, and I didn't really know how to properly write in English, back then. I'm Italian, by the way, so if you have any problem with non-English people correcting your story, you should probably look for someone else. If you're still here by the end of this presentation, then congratulations, you're probably one of my few beta-read author wannabe! Since I like to define myself serious, I'd prefer to be treated like a serious person. You'll find out I'm not one - at all - as soon as we get to talk a bit, but hey... As I've probably mentioned before, I pay attention to details - which means verbs, plurals, articles, but also length of the sentence and the sequence, incongruities with previous chapters and such. |

Sometimes, it takes me a while to finish checking the stories that people send me - only sometimes, I swear, and only because I have something else to do that I can not postpone. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Adventure, mystery and those stories that give you the creeps and a headache but, in the end, are way simpler and easy to understand than you would have ever imagined. I also really like love stories, but there must be angst, and some difficult situations. I love to put my characters into those predicaments you'd never wish to anybody, so, of course, I like to read that kind of stuff, too. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I'm not really into splatter and gore. I like horror, though, but I prefer psychological horror, not the blood-filled, guts-ripping one. Not my cup of tea. |
