I want to be your beta. I read everything thoroughly. Everything. If a sentence doesn't make syntactical sense, I will read it four or five times (or more) in order to figure out the meaning. I love grammar and will happily serve as a live-action grammar and spelling checker, or I will proof your story for typos and missed punctuation/capitalization. If you're writing for a fandom I know well, you can use me as a sounding board for plots, character development, etc. I will never offer unsolicited stylistic advice; as a writer, I understand that everyone has their own style, and unless you're asking me if a style works, I won't ever try to dissuade you from writing a story the way you want it written. If you would like me to beta your story, tell me up front what sort of feedback you need, whether grammatical or creative, and I'll respond promptly.

We've all had that moment of chagrin when we realized we just published something that read, "He longingly at the donut" or, "She finally realized he was was she had been looking for." Sometimes it takes a pair of eyes that doesn't know the story forwards and backwards to notice that something's wrong, and I'm great at noticing missed/duplicate words and punctuation. That said, I'm also pretty good at examining your word choice and drawing attention to awkward repetitions of the same words or phrases.

Sometimes I'm nit-picky with my feedback, and it can come across as overly critical.

I prefer to beta things that are either in-canon or are at least in keeping with established storylines. (I am a shipper, though, so don't be discouraged in that regard!) One-shots are my favorites, but that doesn't mean I won't read longer things, one chapter at a time.

I prefer not to beta AU stories. I also prefer not to beta crossover fics unless they're from the same franchise or are from fandoms based in the same city.
