Consider me a blend of blunt and kind. If you've got problems in a section of a story, then I'm going to tell you, however it'll be in a way that's going to be as painless as possible. It all comes from being an art teacher. You can't just say something is terrible and expect it's creator to want to fix it, or even want to work with you after you've said something so hurtful. Through my own students I've learned that most people shut down and would prefer not to fix something that you've been so rude about. Despite all of this, I'll never tell you that something is fine when in reality it has some kinks that need to be ironed out. You will never improve as a writer if you don't know that there are problems, and where they are located.

I also believe that you should find something worthwhile in a person's writing. What are they doing that is working? Can it be used elsewhere? Does the person feel more confident when writing that section than they do when they write the areas that give them difficulty? These are all factors for improvement.

The first thing I notice is whether the character is behaving in their normal fashion. I've also got an eye for redundency, so if you have the problem of letting paragraphs turn monotonous through the repitition of similar phrases, then I'll quickly catch it. My grammar and spelling are pretty well rounded. I enjoy helping toss ideas around with an author when he or she is having difficutlies with an area.

If I'm not certain about something, then I'm going to let you know. I refuse to tell you something that I'm not absolutley sure about without letting you know about my uncertainty first. My mistakes will not become your mistakes.

My biggest flaw would be that I'm more of a character studier. What I mean by this is that I tend to include a chapter more concerned on the character than the action every so often. The problem with this is that it throws off the pacing, so I might not be the best to ask if you're planning to have a fast paced story. Unless the chapters are short, then I wouldn't recommend sending me multiple chapters at once, because I can get overwhelmed easily. I also get a bit comma happy sometimes.

My doors are open to most anything story wise. This includes action stories, because maybe I can be a bit of an adrenaline junkie. The lovesick puppy in me really enjoys the romance stories. Again, I'm really open to most everything.

As long as there's an actual plot then I don't mind reading. I'm not especially fond of the horror genre, but I'm willing to give a few a try. Even I enjoy some of those so called "crack" fics every now and again, although typically they're just not my thing. I guess that means I'm getting old... So I guess if your story is just an excuse to be silly or bash characters, then I'm not interested. Again, I guess that means I'm getting old....
