Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I really love grammar and I'm tired of reading fics that have great plots but are almost illegible due to grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and/or other things that would otherwise be minor flaws when not in conjunction with other, bigger flaws. If you send me a beta request and I accept, I'll catch most mistakes. I won't sugar coat, but I won't be unnecessarily rude. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
If you don't want your fic to be OOC, and I've read the series, I can almost certainly catch any OOC-ness. I'll catch almost all grammatical errors and I am capable of rephrasing short segments if necessary to better appeal to readers and reviewers and make a story a better and more pleasurable experience for all. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm human, so I, too, can make mistakes, I haven't been a beta for anyone, yet, but I learn as I go. I'm not the best for witty remarks, although I can manage. Also, my fight scenes are mediocre. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer to beta stories that:are not OOC pick up where a really good series has left off explore character identity establish and maintain feasible and interesting plot maintain canon relationships as closely to the author's hints as possible define and expand on relationships introduce new characters to the fic from the fic's author fics the author plans to continue for a definite period of time are not one-shots (if they are one-shots, they serve to fill in "missing" sections from either the book/show/movie and/or another fic) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
OOC ficsbr /br /br / br /br / br / random one-shotsbr /br / br / br /br / br / fics that completely ignore the foundations left by the author the fanfiction author is taking from unless clearly stated as AU. |
