As a beta, I basically aim to be a sounding board for a writer so they can have an opinion and improve their story before they publish to the site. I don't really have expectations, except that the story doesn't get abandoned and that a writer spell checks and reads their chapter over once before I get it. My style is mostly to fix things that are written awkwardly, don't make a lot of sense, and to try to give the writing a rhythm.

I'm good with being able to tell what a writer is trying to say, and helping them to express it more clearly. In addition, I'm good at tweaking dialogue so that it sounds like the character who's speaking. Lastly, I can be frank about the direction that the story is going in and if it keeps my interest or not.

One of my weaknesses is that I can't always get online on a consistent basis. I'm busy with school, and there are a lot of times when I can't get on the computer for stretches of days at a time, so expect to wait until the weekend for a reply. My other main weakness is that I don't have a very good eye for spelling and grammar, so a writer wouldn't be able to rely on me to find all of the mistakes.

I prefer to beta Phantom of the Opera (preferably E/C, but I don't mind other ships) or Artemis Fowl stories, though there are more that I would be more than happy to beta.

I won't beta stories with excessive violence or sex or have excessively poor spelling and/or grammar, and I'm not very fond of crossovers. However, I try to keep an open mind.
