Without trying, I fix things in my head as I read. I'm a bit of a grammar Nazi, but I don't call anyone out on it while chatting. For those that actually want an old coot like me (in my 20's now), I'm easy to get along with, but I've only beta-read once before; I don't know the usual customs that go with it. You'll have to help me as much as I help you.

I try to write in active speaking, as in I try not to use dead verbs. Syntax is probably my strongest point, though. I can write and rewrite this very sentence in 10 different ways, yet it will still convey the same message. What changes is tone. Presentation is everything in writing. Did that sound casual? Did it get heavier at the end? Maybe a bit playful with this? Huh? Huh? ;D

When I actually know the series, I hate seeing characters act... out of character. It irks me to no end, and I won't hesitate to say something like "this doesn't feel like what [name] would do" or whatever the case. I'm sarcastic and snarky at times (insert witty example here), as well, so you'll have to have a sense of humor to get along with me. On another note, if you didn't see before, I'm in my 20s. I'm out of high school. I don't always have free time. There will be days you won't be able to get in touch with me, and I may or may not... forget to get on Fanfiction for a few years at a time. I'm also nit-picky, which is either good or bad depending on how detailed you want a beta-reader to be.

Who doesn't honestly prefer a series over others? I'm not the biggest fan of crossovers, unless it makes sense. Merlin and Harry Potter makes sense. Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering makes sense. Twilight and My Little Pony...? Not so much. So, long story short: I'm weary about crossovers. Just message me and I'll tell you if I've read the book/manga/comic, played the game, or watched whatever you want me to beta. If not, then I can still provide spelling and grammatical fixes, but I won't have any background for you.

I won't beta-read ridiculously-written things, unless their purpose is to be ridiculous (dat comedy). If it's a crossover of something absolutely unfathomable with the intention of being serious, but it doesn't work at all (and you won't listen to reason), I'll tell you "no". If it's a cool concept, I'll generally agree.
