Beta Description
Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I love to read fanfiction, it's a great hobby of mine just as writing is. I admit I sometimes judge people's work more harshly than my own, but mostly I'm criticizing my own work harshly. (I'm only 14, my work isn't the greatest some people have ever read.) I don't think I'm as good a writer as half the writers I read from, so usually if I find a good story, I will always compare it to my own and 99.9% of the time, it's always better. :) But when I beta read, I want to be able to honestly say I've never read stories like what you have written before. If you wish for me to beta read a story, please just ask. If I have too many projects going on for in-progress stories, I will kindly decline as I have school and family to deal with. I am only 14 and I can only handle so much, but I promise if you ask I will check it out and if it looks promising I will either accept it, or keep it on hold until another project is complete and if you are still in need of a beta reader, I'll accept your offer. :)
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm great at telling what part of the chapter/story in general can be improved, such as in description and visualization. I'm quite good at getting images in my mind when reading a story, and when there are more details to improve that image, well it just makes it better. If I don't have a vivid picture, I do have a vivid imagination and I'll tend to float away from the realistic way, and its easy to get confused when something happens that can't happen because of how I imagine things. So basically, I'm very good at criticizing details. DETAILS DETAILS. And grammar. I won't bother if you lack proper punctuation and don't bother to spell check. I understand we were all raised to speak and write differently, so I won't criticize your way of speaking or writing, if it goes with the story. But we all make minor spelling mistakes once in a while, don't sweat it. (:
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I am young, so I'm not too well at writing well-detailed reviews unless I have a lot to say. If it's a short chapter, expect a short review, and so on. If you still want my services please ask, and please don't bias my opinions because of my age. I love to read fanfiction and I can think well on it when I feel. If you ask me to beta read you won't be disappointed, I will be sure to work to my best to give you a thorough review. Also, I'm not a big speller or typer either, and I tend to make tons of typos. If the typo is too atrocious and really confuses the writing, I will point it out. But most minor mistakes go unnoticed by me, so sorry if that's what you want.
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I prefer it if you have good grammar in a story. Please no text talk, alternating CaPs AnD lOwErCaSeS, because quite frankly, I don't want to read it. If you don't know where capitals do go and how to end a sentence, please speak to your English teacher and come back later. If you do not use punctuation or capitalization, etc. I will not even give your story a passing glance. Sorry, but I am more interested in serious stories. If you can't take the time to hit the shift key or any other key besides space and A-Z, you don't have the time to be an author. I'll read mostly anything, even crack pairings, but not what I've listed below. I love romance, adventure, humor, and drama stories, they are also what I write the most.
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I have a personal preference of stories such as romance and drama. Even a good action story or angsty story really catches my mood. But I'd prefer not to read: Over amounts of Yaoi or Yuri, Any overly detailed sex scenes,(violence and not-so-major sexual mentions are perfectly okay with me, I'm not 5.) and I really don't want to read people's personal fantasies of themselves falling in love with some character and putting themselves in a story. (For example - A twilight story where Bella has died and Edward tries to find comfort in a friend. Let's say this "friend" is named after the author or an author's friend and they write the story where these characters fall in love/have sex/get married/or any combination of the 3 and/or more. I can understand you wanting to write a story for a friend, but I don't prefer it when someone puts themselves in a story for their own personal fantasies with a character. I don't prefer reading a story like that. Sure, adding an OC in a story is perfectly okay as long as you don't replace people for situations like the above. Like....adding an OC in a Camp Rock story that the author uses to blossom jealously or rivalry, or some thing like that. THAT is good use of an OC. The situation explained before that - is not.)
