As a keen writer myself, I use my beta reading status to help you in improving and really wringing the most out of your own talents. I never try to take away from your own creative control, however I do give creative suggestion occasionally. By no means do you have to take any of these suggestions to heart, but simply keep them in mind, as I'll only bring them up in rare circumstances. I heavily assist with spelling, grammar and the general setup of your work (paragraphing and correctly setting up quoting, etc..). Often when I have a suggestion about the overall setup of a sentence or paragraph I'll add a comment in italics beside it, rather than simply changing your work (unless the mistake is at the most basic level) so you're always free to disregard any suggestion if you don't agree. So, in closing, if you use me as a beta reader you'll get a high quality service from someone who has been beta reading stories for over 6 years. You'll get your grammar, spelling and characterization checked to a tee. You'll get suggestions in paragraph and sentence setup, but not someone who is too overbearing or intolerant of your own (precious) work. I'm also a bit of a veteran when it comes to fanfiction; although I'm only 20, I've been writing fanfiction since I was 12, posting on fanfiction.net for several years and have beta read for many, many people for over 6 years, so I'm pretty attuned to everything a good beta reader should embody. I tend to want to perfect things, which I guess could be seen as a fault. I also tend to lean toward more angsty fics and tend to favour them slightly more than other genres (see my own fics).

I would prefer to beta read stories that are intended to be rather long, with an interesting, thought provoking, and intelligent plot, with a writer who is both enthusiastic and bright. I want to be pulled into the story. I want to be interested. I don't tend to like to beta fluffy love fics or those that are intellectually shallow.
