If you ask me to beta-read your work, I will take it seriously. I'll correct mistakes and offer my honest opinions. If you need help deciding where you want to go with the story, I'll help with that too. I'll be completely honest.

I'm pretty good with grammar and spelling. If I come across a word I don't know, I can look it up. I strive for good word flow in my work, and I can help you with yours. I can keep you from sounding like a thesaurus; a wide vocabularly is good and should be used, but simple words should, too.

I'll occasionally miss errors, or make my own. I'm not the best at keeping characters 'in character.' My long descriptions sometimes sound awkward. I don't know all the elements that go into a good story. If you talk about rabbits, I'll probably get distracted and squeal a lot.... Also, if it doesn't appear to be going anywhere, I'll get bored with it and I won't finish quickly.

I'd like for you to fully intend to finish your story. I'd prefer that you be serious about writing and actually enjoy it, but I understand that sometimes ideas play out and don't get finished. Also, I would prefer that you make an effort to look over your work before it comes to me.

If you have no plot, I'm not going to go for it. If your characters have no personality, I won't be enthused. If you don't take your writing seriously, I'm not up for that either. Also, I generally dislike parody.
