Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Style: For grammar, I'll just go through and correct any mistakes, so expect that your story will be grammatically correct when I return it, so you won't have to make the corrections yourself. If you'd like me to point out specific errors so that you do make them in the future, I will do so. I'll make general comments on the plot and characters, only giving specific suggestions when I feel it's necessary. If I'm confused about anything, I will ask you to clarify before I change anything. One of the duties of a beta-reader is to catch grammatical errors, so of course I won't fault you for occasional mistakes. But excessive and/or repeated errors are a different story. As a writer, I expect you to have a good grasp of general English grammar. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Grammar, character/plot continuity, plot flow. A note about character continuity: This includes making sure canon characters stay in character, but also for OCs or AU canon characters. Especially with OCs, once you've established their personality, I'll be able to make sure there are no extreme deviations from their character without reasonable explanation. AU canon characters have a little more leeway, of course. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Honestly - sex. Everyone does it differently. I can give you suggestions, but don't ask for specifics, because it depends on your characters. That's about it. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Multi-chapter stories are fine, but I prefer one story over a series (be sure to differentiate between series and sequels). One-shots are fine too. Most ratings are acceptable (ask about M - it depends on the type of content), as are most genres. Also, ask about categories. I beta-read Harry Potter, Twilight, Star Trek (OTS and 2009 movie), Heroes, NUMB3RS. However, I can beta-read for other categories too, so just ask. |
