I am a professonal English tutor and that has been my primary source of income for 2 years. I serve as editor in chief for the college newspaper and have done so for almost 2 years. I am also currently serving as editor for a friend who is publishing his first book.

When it comes to beta reading works of fan fiction, I will read any fandom- even if I am not familiar with it if the desired outcome is just layout and grammar and so forth. If you with me to check for strength, flow, character development, it helps to write for a fandom I am at least semi use to reading. Funny, sad, romance, action, drama... I will read just about anything unless it is like total gore or sex. Length really is not an issue, though naturally longer stories will take longer to read.

Other than that its pretty basic- I just ask that you keep in mind the fact that you are asking me to read your works in order to help you get better. So do not argue with me about suggestions and comments- they are just my thoughts. I am human. It is your story so the decision is yours in the end but you ask me, as a beta reader to give you my thoughts and I will- it's up to you to decide what to do with them. If we can agree to that this will be a great expereince for us all!

As an English tutor by carer and school major, my main strengths are in sentance structre, flow, and overall layout. I check for better word uses, more descriptions, better character development, and the way the characters interact with each other and the settings they are in. I am a big believer in including backgrounds and histories in stories- it develops and builds characters. Do not assume everyone who reads one of your fan fictions knows everything about the basic story line or characters. Add some background and it helps the story flow- that is something I look for.

Im not a very big romance fan to be honest- some is ok but if the story is nothing but one mushy love scene one after another I tend to shy away from those and have a hard time with them. I will beta a story that has some romance or even a romance story but it needs to have very good character development and needs to be something other than the canned romances.

I prefer action, drama, fantasy, and humor stories. I will also do some angst and stories like that. My main focus is on animes and manga related stories but I would be willing to beta read ones for shows and movies and books, again I prefer those written about ones I have watched or at least have some basic knowledge of.

Anything that is overly gory or sexualized. If your story is only about the torture and raping of a girl then I am not the beta reader for you. There can be some gore- a torture scene here and there in a story can be a good thing at times, and a sex scene never hurt anyone. However, if that is the main focus of your story, it is probably better for both of us to find a better beta reader that would fit your needs.
