I've mostly helped with school papers and the like. I love reading stories, though; so I've decided to try being a beta reader (obviously). My skills are mostly technical (grammar, spelling, idea flow) but I also like to ask questions ("Why did you do this? It doesn't seem to make sense after that last paragraph, it's totally out of the blue" or "I don't understand, who is he talking about?" or "Is this really in character?") I want to help you write a story that's well done, no matter what the subject matter.

I'm best at grammar, spelling, and the logical flow from one thought to the next. I can be a story-doctor, pointing out weak spots and suggesting different ways to fix them. I can be a bit of a know-it-all, but I'll never tell you that you MUST do things the way I think is best. I'm here to make suggestions, not to chop your work into pieces.

I overuse commas, horribly so, and probably won't catch your own comma abuse. I am not very good at character dialogue. I'm a bit dense sometimes when it comes to motivations - you may have to explain to me *why* person X did Y, or even convince me that yes, it really does make sense. I can be pigheadedly certain that I know exactly the right way to write things; fortunately, I'm learning to rein in my overconfidence :P If you find that I'm a bit too pushy or blunt, please just tell me.

I like general stories, ones that aren't just one genre, but that span a wide range of human reactions. SF and fantasy are my favorite story backgrounds, but AUs are a guilty pleasure of mine.

I'm not a huge fan of slash, although I won't turn a story down just because of homosexual or non-canon relationships. Lemons are right out, though; I read a few, but not enough to know what makes one good. Mostly I like fluff or deep emotional intimacy, not sex :P
