I love to read and to get swept away in the narrative of a story. I love characters and relationships that grab your imagination. I want to help other writers to feel that they can express themselves without getting tied in knots about spelling and grammar. I genuinely enjoy proof-reading, so let me take that bit of stress away for you! I need about 3 or 4 days to go over a chapter and make suggestions. I'd like to have a conversation. So many things that could be edited are a matter of opinion, so I like to know where you're coming from, what you're trying to get across or if you'd prefer to go with one correction or another. I want writers to know that any suggestions are just that: suggestions. The story is yours. I won't be offended if you decide not to go with my changes. I know how personal writing is and ultimately you are the director; I am merely an editor. I honestly want the best for writers and their stories, so even if I did have a million and one corrections for your grammar, punctuation, spelling or whatever, it's because I can see the beauty of what you're creating and I want your narrative to fly without all those other things getting in the way.

I am good at identifying where others' strengths lie. I want to help with the parts of writing that people find more difficult - be that spelling, grammar, characterisation or continuity. I love words and have a tendency to proofread as I read anyway. I'm good at spotting spelling mistakes or the incorrect use of a word. My grammar is pretty good. I can immerse myself in a world and tend to have a good sense of what a character may or may not say or do. I am good at identifying inconsistencies in narrative or characterisation.

As you can see, my English is UK English, so that's where my strengths lie. I'm happy to proofread for US English too, but you'd have to give me the "heads up" first. I can be picky about grammar, but as I said above, you're in control. You can just ignore my suggestions if it's too much. I think I'd find it hard if you asked me to JUST look at the grammar or the characters and not anything else as I read a story as a whole and I feel like all of those constituent parts work together to create the whole.

I love stories that show the great capacity of the human heart in relationships, friendships, etc. I love worlds that you can escape to, so I tend to read more of the sci-fi and fantasy genres, but will ultimately read anything that grabs me.

I find romance harder to read and I definitely don't want to be editing anything explicit. I wouldn't to read any horror, paranormal stories or anything with sexual violence. I'm not a fan of cross-overs. I like to get immersed in one world at a time and I find it hard to do that with these stories.
