Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
First of all I'd like to say that writing my beta profile feels like filling out an application. Second I'd like to say that I'm still in high school, so I'm usually a little bit busy. I understand that anyone writing a story would like to post it on here as soon as possible but I am not a machine. I will, however, try as hard as I can to bring quality in a low amount of time. Especially if I really like your story! All I ask of you is that you have a little patience, and you won't be let down. Oh, and please proof-read your stories really quick before you ship them off to me. It makes it easier on both of us. When I beta a story I read it at least 3 times. The first time I go through it, I don't take in the story line at all, I only check for grammar. If you're particularly good at grammar, you will quickly become my best friend (haha). The second time I go through it is to simply get a feel for the story. The plot, how you represent the characters, etc. Then I make suggestions as to what needs to be changed or what you could do to make it better. If you let me, I might change a few things. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm pretty good at catching grammar mistakes and misspellings. And I can without a doubt tell you when something doesn't fit in the story or fit the characters personality. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I'm not perfect, so I don't catch EVERY mistake you'll ever make, or maybe I'll suggest something that doesn't work with your vision. And then there's those random periods in which I'll have writers block and will be no help to you plot-wise. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like ones that have a spark of individuality. Ones that take less than an hour to read are good, too. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Ughhh, I HATE with a passion cliche stories. Which makes me a hypocrite because I don't know how to write anything else. Unfortunately, just because I write them doesn't mean I'll fix yours. |
