Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I will beta mostly any story for Pirates of the Carribbean, especially for accuracy. I also am very good with spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. I work best with poetry but do not mind working with prose. I can sometimes be very harsh when I beta, and sometimes too kind. For a 1000-4000 word story I will probably get the edited version back it you in one to two days (on average) in the non-summer seasons. Mostly I line-edit and give overall suggestions. but if you desire I could only do one or the other. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am very good with the accuracy in some fandoms, but in all I really notice grammar and spelling and when people change tenses with no warning. I have an accute eye for detail and errors. I will also read through your draft multiple times to make extra sure that no mistakes were made that I did not catch. I don't really care what pairing it is, frankly, I find the odd ones quite interesting (for example: Elizabeth Swan and Davey Jones). I do not mind incest (in writing, at least) or slash (I love Sparrington) although I do often ship straight, non-related couples. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
I don't always beta regularly and will sometimes miss some minor errors. I am not a very comedic person, so editing comedy is not something I'm terribly good at, either. I also take a long time to edit long or multi-chapter stories because I have an attention span of like, zero. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I really love to beta poetry, romance, action/adventure, but will beta nearly anything. I like short-ish stories best, but will do other lengths, I'll just take longer. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I will read any story. No restrictions, but longer stories take longer for me to beta. I will not, until further notice, accept stories with spoilers for The Sweet Far Thing and Bloodhound. |
