Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I've read some pretty horrific stories on this site, and I don't mean the plot scared me. Sometimes people write with complete disregard for the English language, even going as far as to use "txt tlk" in their stories. When people write like that, I find it insulting to all of us out there who try hard to write properly and do their best. So, I'm going to try and continue that goal by helping others. I'd be happy with simply reading a story over for grammar and spelling, or helping to make sure stories are canon, really, I'll help in any way that I can. Just drop me a message and I'll do my best :) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I'm fairly good at catching spelling and grammar. There are a few little things that might as well have been in Greek when I was taught them, but it's the stuff that no one really cares about. Like how to identify the different types of verbs or something. Also, when it comes to keeping things canon, as long as I'm familiar with the fandom, I'm pretty accurate with catching little slip ups. All in all, I'm not perfect, but I do try my best to catch things. |

Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
The stories that I prefer to beta over are stories that belong to fandoms I'm familiar with. I've tried to beta for stories where I'm not 100% on the fandom, and I always end up confusing the hell out of myself. Plus, if it's overly complicate with 5 billion characters. 20 different POVs and 32 OCs I have to keep track of, I'll get frustrated. My best fandoms to work in are: Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Twilight and Lord of the Rings, however, I don't mind straying from the path. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
Lemons, incest, femmeslash, slash - I prefer to stay away from that kind of stuff. Keep it clean for the most part and I'll be happy to help :) |
