I've been beta reading mainly for over eight years, though this is the first time I've properly made myself available in the public. I hope to go into translating in the future and possibly editing as it seems to be a hobby of mine, so I find betaing of this kind to be very good practice. br /

I prefer to work in Word with track changes so that my opinions are there for the author to follow or ignore as he or she pleases. I also prefer to work in a fandom that I have at least some working knowledge in. That being said, I'm always up for a challenge and if the writing style is good enough I'd be willing to try something new. br /

I'm especially solid at noticing word repetition, story cohesion, characterization, and writing style. I firmly believe in 'show don't tell,' and often my comments on style lean toward that mantra. I'm also vaguely fluent in Japanese language and have a couple years experience of its culture, so if you're looking for info on the land of the rising sun, I'm a pretty decent source.

My grammar is solid, but not perfect. When it comes down to semi-colons and the more complicated stuff I am considerably full of doubt, but I studying to make my grammar better.

I prefer character based stories that have some element of supernatural, but I'm really open to anything. I do have a weakness for anything that deals with language (anything from aphasia to multilingualism), perceptions of reality, or manipulation of the senses (deprivation, illusion, all that good stuff).

No incest, please. Also I will not read anything involving animal cruelty. Humans, however, are fair game.
