Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Well, my name is Regina (code name...don't ask) and my beta reading style is helpful (obviously); I give friendly advice, good ideas, constructive criticism, helpful notes, and clues on how to improve plot lines and summaries (and sometimes, plot bunnies). I look out for grammar errors (I'm really good at that, considering that my mother is an English teacher...), mistakes in information and plot lines, plot/story killers (hee hee), and mainly just help the author in question improve the overall story/fiction. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
My greatest strengths are: grammar, spelling, ideas, and keeping a sharp eye out for any errors in general. Although, I am not perfect and WILL make mistakes every now and then (although, it's rare!), I am very good at writing and helping the plot move along. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
My weaknesses are paragraphing (although, to be fair, FF.net has this weird thing about formatting and not letting people put in certain special characters) and not putting in enough detail! I tend to be more talk, less action (although, I am working VERY hard at not doing that, so I have improved somewhat...). |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I have absolutely no problem with explicit, or non-explicit yaoi, yuri, het, incest, twincest, etc! I am very open when it comes to those kinds of things and I can beta/stand almost anything! Although, I tend to lean more towards fandoms I know well, so that I won't make any informational mistakes, so I prefer Harry Potter, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hikaru No Go, and Chobits fictions...there are more that I know, so just ask me and I'll tell you if I can take the case, hee hee! |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
There are a few things that absolutely make me puke, though. I don't do old man sex, like, sex between an extremely old character with a much younger character (such as Dumbledore and Snape, Dumbledore and Harry, etc. Just, no.) There are exceptions to every case though, so, again, just ask me. Okay? Okay! |
