Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
The way I usually beta is that I immediately fix any spelling or grammar errors that need no discussion. However if there is a problem with the flow of a sentence or paragraph (or if the meaning is somewhat lost) then I will usually highlight the section, explain what is confusing, possibly give a suggestion as to how to fix it, and include that in the revised version I send back. |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I am good at correcting spelling and grammar and of checking the flow and coherency of sentences and paragraphs. I am good at trying to improve the story while keeping the author's original intentions in mind. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Helping on the point of how to start or end a story is not my strong suit. Also, if the story is based in a fandom I am not currently keeping up with, I can miss mistakes about the plot. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
Although I usually read yaoi, BL, slash, etc. I do read heterosexual fanfics as well. I'm am pretty much okay with any fandom. Harry Potter, Durarara, 1/2 Prince, Yugioh, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Naruto, Hetalia Axis Powers, Pandora Hearts, D. Gray-Man, Sherlock Holmes, Kingdom of Hearts, The Avengers, The Hobbit, /br /br /br /br /br / br /br / br / br /br /br / br / br /br / br / br /br /br /br / br / br /br / br / br /br /br / br / br /br / br / br /br /br /br /br / br / br /br / br / br /br /br / br / br /br / br / br /br /br /br / br / br /br / br / br /br /br / br / br /br / br / Certain fandoms I am no longer keeping up with, although I may be fine for beta-ing the fic anyway(example: Prince of Tennis). |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I cannot think of anything I would absolutely not beta. If I really did have a problem with it for some reason (although I can't think of an example), then I would work something out. |
