I am first and foremost a writer, and this lends to me a great deal of experience with the English language. Grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and simply better ways to "phrase" a sentence are all very clear to me, even when I am not reading a piece for the purpose of beta-ing it. I think this is a very important point in a beta; that they are not only able to assist the author with petty grammatical issues, but also give advice on the story and plot detail. They should be a consultant, not a distant editor. In this spirit, I do expect any author who wishes my service to take into account my advice. I don't expect them to use it all, but to be blatantly ignored is rude and unthoughtful, to put it briefly. Despite how I may seem from this introduction, I am a congenial individual, and strive to give advice without harming the author's pride in the least.

My most prominent skill is making things pleasing to the reader, to put it roughly. Proper grammar may not always be the best route to take, as poetry and freewriting can attest to. I am very good with plots, how to draw an audience's attention, and literary devices. I am also good with basic grammar, though I may not always adhere to it. Also, I am good at saying what I need to in relatively few words, comparatively.

As a whole, I would say my spelling leaves the most to be desired. This is an easy problem to mend, however, with much gratitude to modern technology and that wonder known as spell-check.

I like stories with a good plot, but that is a very vague basis. Mostly focusing on a few set characters- "epic" tales that include a cast of ten characters or more tend to be bulky and more often than not, poorly written. I will read romance, any kind, be it straight or gay. Action, macabre, dramatic- I'm not very picky on genre.

Too much drama I cannot stand, and stories including self-made characters in major roles, as well as self-inserts, are a big taboo with me. Minor characters that are inserted for the sake of the plot doesn't matter, any good story needs those, but when a main character is falling in love with an unoriginal perfect female, I'm not going to buy it.
