The Scooby Gang aid a company of Dwarves that are on a quest to reclaim their kingdom from the dragon Smaug.

Dawn jumped into the portal and landed in Middle Earth just as the party at Bilbo's is getting started. She winds up taking the hobbits place as a way to pass the time till she can find a way to return home.

Kíli dreams of his little sister. Bard dreams of dragons and a woman with hair like sunlight on gold. Dís dreams of her daughter, holding a scythe encrusted in rubies. Buffy dreams of a blazing mountain, a man wreathed in shadow and a lidless flaming eye that sees everything and names her Slayer.

"She clawed her way out of the ground as if birth by the very earth itself, a force of nature the likes this world has never seen…" Gandalf tells Bilbo and company how exactly he came to meet Buffy Summers.

"I'm sorry, did I say if it pleased your majesty?" Gandalf invites Buffy along for an adventure. Too bad he didn't run it by Thorin first.

There is no word for Buffy in Sindarin so the elves call her Dagnirel, the Bane Star, for she fell from the sky and her eyes glitter with diamond light. But no-one can stand before her when she bares her blades in battle and death is her gift.
