To fight this, the first explorers of space used what was at the time cutting edge technology to extend lifespans and AI chips to transfer memories and experiences from one willing host to another to ensure knowledge was passed down through the generations. These first explorers were called nightbloods.

Nuclear war ended life on Earth. Survivors lived in a space station called the Ark hoping Earth would become safe again. After more than a century time was running out for the Ark. Volunteers - including Lexa - were sent to the ground to discover if humans could return home. But what Lexa found shook her beliefs to the core and set her on a path of life and death, love and hate.

Years have passed since ALIE's defeat. Clarke lost people along the way, some she cared for more than others. And so Clarke now lives alone in the depths of Trikru territory. After Clarke's actions in the Mountain she found herself unable to face those she saved, each person who survived merely a reminder of the death she had caused. And so she fled, she ran and she left everything she had known in the hopes of finding herself again. But running from her actions wasn't so simple when her demons shadowed every step she took and every decision she made.

'There's still time' was a lie Clarke had been telling herself for while now because she thought remembering the past was enough. She thought holding on for just a moment longer would give her another day. But she knew the truth. Clarke knew each day that passed meant Lexa was that much closer to her time running out. And Clarke knew she still had time. Until one day she wouldn't.
