Author has written 29 stories for Harry Potter, and RENT. Hello everyone. I thank you for clicking onto this page. If you can see this, you obviously want to know something about me. I'm a teacher, who used to teach students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing (As if you can't tell by a couple of my stories!) and am now teaching upper elementary and doing resource work. English is my mother tongue, but I speak French, and know American Sign Language as well. I can also order a pint of Guinness in Irish, tell a class of children to behave in Inuktiiut (as well as recite the alphabet, and I know a couple of names for animals and foods that most people really wouldn't want to know, and carry on a 4 sentence conversation of everyday pleasantries.). For my teaching certificate, I majored in English, French and Physics. I must have been insane. Physics does look good on a resume, and it's great for picking apart Star Trek episodes. I'm Canadian and have lived in 7 of our 10 provinces, and now one of the territories. I've traveled to the United States, but my other vacations have had to happen in my imagination. Thank goodness for the RENT Broadway tour. I saw it in Boston, and it's been inspirational. Also a new theatre company in my home province has picked RENT as their first production so I get to see it a few more times (and at a dramatically reduced price, too!). In January I got to see it twice in Toronto. I've been to NYC twice and am planning a return trip. I had a great day last summer where I ate lunch in the Life Cafe and then saw the fictional version that evening off-broadway. Although I wouldn't count myself an avid outdoor enthusiast, I do enjoy camping and seeing wildlife up close, as long as the wildlife isn't known to eat humans. By the way, polar bears do drink Coca Cola. I really haven't abandoned my stories. Mind you, with regard to Out of the Silence at times I just don't feel like writing it. It's kind of like how you develop an aversion to french fries when working at a fast food chain. You don't want to work a deep fryer for fun. I'm slowly plugging away at Out of the Silence. Very Slowly. I have a vague idea of where I want it to go but and still figuring out how I want to get there. Status of In-Progress Stories The Curtain of Silence that Surrounds Me (RENT, Challenge Central entry) - Tentatively completed, but see that there's more work to be done on it. I wish to continue the story as time allows. Out of the Silence (Harry Potter AU fic) -. When I started the story, I based my main character on a friend of mine. In the time since then, my job actually became a lot like my character's. It got to the point where writing this story wasn't relaxing because it seemed like I was reporting on what I was doing during my day. Now that I'm out of that job, I may be in a better frame of mind to write it. Buddy in Bohemia - Slowly working on it. I've got a few hundred more words on it and think I'll try to continue it between now and Christmas 2015. It's going really slowly. Kindergarten Justice- I'm trying! I've got a few more ideas for this one. Friends keep giving me suggestions I try to incorporate. I really want to do a Christmas/ Channukah chapter soon. I've also used this as lesson plans with some of my students and it's been a big hit. Anyways, thanks for reading and reviewing. |
