![]() Author has written 19 stories for Harry Potter, Chuck, StarTrek: Voyager, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Pokémon, StarTrek: Deep Space Nine, StarTrek: The Next Generation, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, How I Met Your Mother, and Star Wars. Greetings to One and All. I have been writing in some form or another for a very long time, but I have only started getting serious about fan fiction around October 2010. I had two Harry Potter fanfics before then, but they were the works of a far less experienced author. I had meant for the two stories starting with "Harry Potter and _" to be part of a seven part series revolving around the Seven Deadly Sins. I had just seen Fullmetal Alchemist for the first time, and the idea seemed to make sense. But that was long past. Those stories are still posted, in case anyone wants to read them. Since then, I have discovered a few television shows that have captured my interest in addition to the modern Star Trek shows. They've been over for a decade or more, and only after revisiting them am I appreciating them fully. I am of the strong opinion that Deep Space Nine was the best of the Star Trek series, though I confess to not being very familiar with the Original Series. I am very fond of Captain Picard and Data from TNG, as well as the Doctor, Seven of Nine, Naomi Wildman, and B'Elanna Torres from Voyager. I strongly believe that Kathryn Janeway is a woman with a huge ego problem, imposing her own views on others even if it kills them (literally, in the case of Tuvix). I hate her with a passion, but not because she is a woman. Kira Nerys is one of my favorite characters ever made, and I wish that she had been in Chakotay's place and taken over command of Voyager in Caretaker (but only if she couldn't stay on DS9). I am a fan of the Harry Potter novels, and to a certain extent the movies as well. The novels are not without their flaws, and I intend to explore some of these flaws in 'The One Who Said No.' HP purists may hate it, but I want to take a more real-world approach to the setting and see where it can go. Chuck is quite possibly the best show ever made, though people keep telling me that said title rightfully belongs to Dr. Who (which I have yet to explore, though I intend to do so). I love Chuck and all the characters therein. It is the quintessential show for nerds, geeks, gamers, and fanboys all over the world. Once it wraps up its final season, I will be sure to restart the crossover fanfic I want to write with another awesome show. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was a prospect that seemed flawed from the start. Terminator is an iconic sci-fi franchise (only the first two made by James Cameron, that is. the other two movies were terrible). So to make a TV show out of it seemed like a money-making gimmick. And then calling it "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" made me gag. But to my very pleasant surprise, the show was legitimately awesome. Lena Heady is no Linda Hamilton, but she's hardly a pushover in the role. Thomas Dekker is, for me, the one true John Connor. I believed him as the reluctant savior of mankind forced to accept his awesome destiny and endure untold hardships. And Summer Glau as the enigmatic guardian Terminator, Cameron, stole the show for me. She was a very different creature than Ahhnold's T-800 was, but she was a compelling character despite of (or perhaps because of) her being a machine, and her romance with John Connor seemed absolutely perfect for the franchise, and the actors really sold it. TSCC ended on a cliffhanger, which is very sad, since the show had so much promise. It was worthy of the two movies that came before it. And on that subject, Summer Glau is quite possibly my favorite performer in any visual medium. She can act, she can dance, she can kick ass, and she can do it all while looking gorgeous (not to mention a great deal younger than her almost 30 years of age). Firefly and Serenity introduced me to her, but The Sarah Connor Chronicles made me fall for her. And then The Cape made me angry. That show was terrible, and a waste of both Ms. Glau and the awesomeness that is Keith David. I hope both of those actors get better roles in the future. So, that's my rant for the time being. I'll update this on occasion (maybe, possibly, I don't know when). I hope you take a look at my fanfics. If you have anything to contribute, please leave a review or a PM, and I'll be sure to get back to you. Until then, take care and stay safe. ^_^ |
