"I have had a message from the lady Nienna," the High King said to them all. "The Valar have come to a decision about the case of the House of Fëanor. " The last story in the Return to Aman series which tells of Maglor's return with Elrond.

Maglor has breakfast with Elrohir and tests the truth of the Doom of the Noldor, Elrohir gives his opinion of the Shibboleth of Fëanor, Finrod Felagund goes on a walking holiday with hobbits in Eldamar and discusses Moria and the Valar, Sam sees Elf-magic, and Elrond visits Nerdanel to discuss Silmarils. Celebrimbor returns from the Halls of Mandos, to be greeted by Finrod, Galadriel, Elrond, Celebrían and Orodreth, and travels to Tol Eressëa to meet Maglor, Frodo and Bilbo. And then a long-awaited ship arrives. [Return to Aman series 12 : follows 'Among the Ainur and Other Animals']

Maglor meets Nimloth of Doriath, and is surprised. Elrond and Bilbo go to Valimar, and meet Ingwion, leader of the Vanyar Host from the War of Wrath, Indis and Melian. In which Maglor, returned to Tol Eressëa with Elrond and Frodo, meets two heroes of Gondolin, recalls Elrond's thoughts on the Downfall of Númenor, injures Fingon and loses a horse-race (barely). [Part 10 of the Return to Aman Series: follows 'Even the Very Wise']

Nerdanel and Lalwen [Irime] in Tol Eressëa at the start of the Fourth Age, discussing kinslaying, family, art and history, are joined by Galadriel who has recently returned from Middle-earth after the Ban of the Valar that prevented her from returning was finally lifted. They eat cake and discuss Gil-galad's parentage. Later, Nerdanel makes a decision.

Elrond, newly arrived in the West, and Celebrían discuss family, Rivendell, getting settled in Tol Eressëa, missing Middle-earth, the House of Fëanor as pastries, and the Breaking of the World. In which Bilbo Baggins, leaving the Party and the Shire behind him sets off once again upon the road with Dwarves, and encounters old friends upon the way.

When the dim, inscrutable Maia came to Fingon in the Halls of Mandos, to ask if he would be prepared to speak with his cousin Maedhros, Fingon did, for a moment, hesitate.

Elrond finds Maglor again, four hundred years after the fall of Beleriand, and they exchange news. There is mention of the deaths of Elros and Maedhros in this, but neither is described in detail. [Return to Aman story 1]

How *do* dead elves get to the Halls of Mandos anyway? And once they get there, what do they say to one another? Fingolfin could feel his temper rising, predictable, and yet he could not stop it. His years of kingship vanished in the mist. He was the younger, less talented, less cherished brother again, but one with a list of grievances that had grown very long.

The War of Wrath lasted for forty-two years. It was neither a swift nor a certain victory. Here, in the middle of that great war, Celebrimbor, Elrond and Elros meet and work together. Elrond and Celebrimbor have complex feelings about the House of Fëanor. Elros, not so much.

" In which Hador Lórindol comes to Hithlum, swears fealty to Fingolfin, and follows his lord to the end. And doesn't regret a thing.

Elrond, arrived in Valinor, goes to meet his mother, Elwing. Taking Maglor with him. "Hmph. I suppose we can't have him being beaten bloody on my doorstep." Elwing said, unenthusiastically "Or killing someone." Apparently Maglor was considered a random killer, like a biting dog. "Come in then, if you must."
