Author has written 2 stories for Destiny, and Pokémon. Thanks for visiting my profile! If you’re familiar with me, I was huge on Destiny, loved the game to death. There used to be a massive ‘fanboy’ defense for the game on my profile too. But one thing led to another and I chose to abandon the game. I won’t go into the messy details, but it was a matter of priorities. Destiny will always have a place in my heart, but it is no longer a part of my life. A big thanks to Bungie for a wonderful four years, but this is where we part ways for the time being. As of right now, I’m not the gamer I used to be. I descended to the ‘filthy casual’ status lol, and I’m okay with that now. I play Overwatch occasionally and that’s really it these days. I’ve become more invested in writing fanfiction, though it’s more of a hobby considering my work schedule. I’m also working on something original, but it’ll be years before it’s in a spot where I think it would be worth showing someone. That aside, you’re reading my fanfiction profile so I’ll stick to talking about fanfiction. I’ve been writing on this site for more than… (I had to go check lol) EIGHT years now! I can’t believe it’s been that long already. This is my second account on fanfiction so don’t let the join date above fool you, I’ve been lurking around this place for a long time. Update Schedule Caged Wings: I haven't disappeared! Just been incredibly busy with life over the last few months. Chapter 43 is nearing completion, but the refining process may take some additional time with this chapter. A September update is now off the table, but I'm working hard to make sure I deliver something in October. Again, I can't wait for you guys to read this one! Destiny: Pioneer of the Light: I have officially begun to work on chapter 39. I don't have a timetable for when it will be completed and published, but I am actively working on it now as opposed to how I was earlier this year. Works in Progress Caged Wings: Pokemon At this point, I’ve been working on this exclusively for almost two years and it has been an absolute joy to write this story. I first want to give a shout out to MjrGenMatt for becoming my beta reader on literally day one of this story. He was my first review and offered to be my beta after a brief discussion. His help has been absolutely integral to the making of this story. I can’t tell you how many times just talking with him helped me improve this project. He’s a super humble guy that won’t take any credit for what he’s done, but he’s a fantastic beta and I wish him all the best! Now for the story itself, I feel like Caged Wings is going to be something legendary. Forgive me for that touch of arrogance, but I feel really confident about where this story will go in the future. I only wish that I could get a little more attention to it, but that will come with time. I’ll give you a brief premise that’s spoiler-free. Ash Ketchum has just become a senior in high school and on his first day of school he has an encounter that would forever change the direction of his life. In his heart, he always had a love for a Pokemon, but in a world that doesn’t care for these creatures, Ash wants to make a change. But to bring about such a change would require a journey unlike any other. The scope of this story is TREMENDOUS in size. I’ve barely scratched the surface of this universe, so it's my pleasure to inform you that what I’ve written so far is only the beginning. I can promise you that this journey is definitely going to be unlike any other. The story starts off with a high school setting which I’ve learned has turned away a lot of people, but every journey has its start. I’ve already made my promise that you’ll see Ash out there traveling across the world, but that’s in due time. Over the years I improved a lot as a writer and I have to say that this story is probably the most ambitious one I’ve attempted. I’ve always been a big-picture guy so nearly every story I’ve written has been massive, but with Caged Wings, I’m trying to focus on the individual characters too. That was one of my biggest weaknesses. I would always write static characters, so in Caged Wings, I’ve tried to make them all more dynamic, showing people when they’re weak, stronger, indecisive, focused, etc. I think I’m doing a much better job than in my previous works, but I’d love to hear some feedback from anyone else. I’ll let you guys in on a little secret about this story. ;) I started working on this when I in high school actually and it was originally supposed to be ten chapters. It was a little romance story and if you read the first ten chapters and cut out certain parts, it would've ended at Dawn's doorstep with a kiss. But as I worked on it, some crazy ideas started to pop in my head and this story grew into what I’ve been publishing right now. I don’t know if it’s the type of writer I am, but I can never write something that’s small in scale. It will always become something huge! I’m not good at writing combat…yet! I’ve been working around the clock trying to figure out how best to write the battles and it has been an absolute blast experimenting with different ideas and bouncing them off of my beta-reader. I’m trying to apply some real/interesting/unique concepts to Pokemon battles without straying too far from the original design of it all. So please feel free to critique my battles. The first ‘official’ battle is in chapter 24 if you want to take a peek. The battles prior to this one I feel were shaky at best, but by chapter 24 I think I started to develop my own distinct feel for battles. Since this is an Ash journey fic, I’m sure a lot of people might appreciate a bio or profile of him and his team as the story progresses, so I’ll try to remember to update this as I go. If by any chance you read this and it's not up to date, feel free PM me and let me know. I tend to forget that I have a profile lol. Ash’s Profile Name: Ash Ketchum Circuit Rank: 5 Title: ‘Quest’ Record: 7 Matches, 7 Wins, 0 Losses Registered Pokemon: Pikachu Pikachu’s move pool (As of Chapter 38): Spark, Thunderbolt, Quick Attack, Slam, Electro Ball, Agility, Thunder Wave, Double Team, Electric Terrain. I’ll also throw this out there, I’m in the camp that believes a Pokemon can learn more than four moves. I find the four-move limit too restrictive in fanfiction where you have total freedom. Four moves are the limit in the games for the sake of balance. Pokemon will also forget moves in this story as well when that move no longer serves a purpose. An example is Pikachu no longer needs to use Charge in order to use Thunderbolt. As such, that move has been omitted from his move pool. Anyway, I think that’s all I’m willing to say here for the time being. There are lots of things I want to say, but I really can’t for the sake of spoilers because I have some big plans ahead. Destiny: Pioneer of the Light Well, it has been almost four years since I started working on this story, and I have to say that my vision of it changed drastically over the course of the story. If I could take it all back and start over, I would! But I don’t have the time, nor am I trying to get too deeply involved in Destiny again. For those of you following this story, as I promised I will write an ending but I’m just very short of time so it’s taking me a while to get this done. It will happen though, I promise! At the beginning of this project, I was OBSESSED with Destiny so on top of my unhealthy playing habits, I started writing this story. I started it without much of a plan or a direction of where I wanted to go, I was just having fun. But with time, I grew as a writer and started to notice the mistakes I was making as I went on and before I knew it, I wanted to be a better writer above all else. After an extended break from Destiny in 2018, I came back to this story and saw how much a mess it truly was. Again, I really wish I could just wipe the slate clean, but I can’t. I posted a critique of my story in chapter 37 in which I went over most of the stuff I did wrong and how I’ve written myself into a corner. The gist of it was ‘almighty MC, too plot-driven, no character development, impending power creep.’ Like, it was BAD lmao. So that is why I’ve chosen to abandon the outlines I had written for this story and move toward ending it. I don’t think I could feasibly salvage this mess by forcing myself to keep going, so it will be ending soon. I said this earlier this year, and its been months since an update, but I promise you I’m working on it. I’m distracted by the project I’m working on above. |
