"I hate seeing you trying to blend in. You were born to stick out like a sore thumb. Why can't you just stick to the rules? Monsters should be feared and avoided, and they're supposed to maul the girl like a hungry lion."

"Who do you think I am?" he couldn't hold back a sneer, leaning towards Shizuo whose hand he grasped in his, guiding those strong fingers around his neck.

Izaya noticed the white cuff of Shizuo's sleeve and with a twist of his wrist, he flicked his switchblade open. There was a crease in his forehead when he noticed that Shizuo wasn't actually in his kitchen. Instead, it was the shirt he was wearing.

"Let me in tonight," Izaya outstretched an arm towards Shizuo, all fingers folded except his pinky to convince Shizuo he was speaking the truth, "I promise I'll be good."

"That childish attempt at lying won't work on me, Shizu-chan."

Shinra invited Izaya over as an apology, and managed to gain snippets of his friend's thoughts.
