With the release of the final instalment of 'The Hobbit' trilogy, I felt that is was important to finally get on and repost The Mellon Chronicles series.

It was an epic undertaking by the wonderful Cassia & Siobhan of 37 fanfiction works revolving around the friendship of Aragorn & Legolas. They pioneered this trope in fanfiction and it is amazing how much the idea caught hold and held with many other authors on this site. I often see a huge amount of similar plots obviously inspired by Cassia & Siobhan's writings. It is my dream to make sure The Mellon Chronicles doesn't disappear from the world and that the next generation of fanfiction writers can still enjoy it and draw inspiration from the series just as I did in the early days.

The Mellon Chronicles appeared around the late 90's, early 2000. Cassia & Siobhan listed their works on and had their own website (). After troubles with around 2005, they removed their stories from their account and continued to maintain their website where they posted several more instalments in the series. It was not to last as by 2007 the site was unmaintained and eventually disappeared from the internet altogether. Luckily the 'Valar Guild' and 'Archive of Our Own' thought to preserve their beautiful series.

Please read and enjoy the complete works of Cassia & Siobhan's wonderful Mellon Chronicles. I have used their original artwork piece created for each story as the avatar photo accompanying it's respectful text and have also included all the author's original comments and disclaimers. I will be posting the series on a daily basis. Please feel free to leave reviews for the wonderful Cassia & Siobhan.

NOTES TO READERS

23/2/2015 - Chapter 16 of "Tears Like Rain" posted. Nearly at the end! Very exciting. Have started work on a new website to house The Mellon Chronicles. At this stage I do not have an estimated time when this website will get up and running. Will keep you posted on that one peeps. In the mean time, if you visited the original website I would like to hear from you about what you remember was on it. I am looking to try and get as much of the original website back together. I have found writings from Fanlore and other sources that were on the original site which has been hugely helpful in it's construction. Obviously the stories were and there was some artwork - some of which I have relocated but I am sure there is more out there. If you have some pertaining to the series, I would like to hear from you. I also remember there was a random name generator so I am working on that as well. I am planning to run MC themed writing and art contests. Probably on a bi-annual or quarterly basis. LotR fan fiction has waned in recent years since it has been over a decade since the last movie came out. I am hoping The Hobbit will stir up some inspiration again.
