Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter. I find it quite difficult to conjure up a coherent description of myself. It has something to do with all the contradictions, I think. I fancy myself as a loner by choice, and yet, I am completely fascinated and moved by other people. My stories are often the medium through which I am able to vicariously live the lives of my characters. Hence my love for writing. I don't think I write very well, because I lack the patience required to be as meticulous as I would I like to be when choosing words. But I feel I need to write in order to feel closer to myself. For me, it's a lot like what E.B. White once said - “Writing is both mask and unveiling.” Writing is my way of simultaneously expressing and preserving. I write, as one would, an unsigned love letter to a blissfully oblivious addressee. With heart.
Epiphany - a Harry Potter fanfic (complete) My first (and currently, only) story on the site is for, more reasons than one, very close to my heart. So much so that even though as I re-read it now, I find so much that I could change, I have decided not to rewrite it, to preserve its organic, natural form. The story is about discovering love that baffles reason, that goes beyond notions of right and wrong. At the same time, it is also a story of friendship and forgiveness. Although the story is about Harry and Hermione's relationship, Ron and Ginny - for however long they feature in the story - are neither sidelined, nor vilified, as fanfics tend to do. Part of the reason for this was to imbibe the story with realism and depth - there is hardly anything interesting in having to choose between true love and an inconsiderate moron. But mostly, I felt this was important, because to me, that is what constitutes the magic of JKR - the fact that even the darkest grey of characters do or did deserve love and acceptance. My fanfic is therefore very much rooted in canon, almost as a tribute to the author who was able to fashion out such beautifully nuanced characters that will continue to inspire generations of budding writers. Finally, the fanfic is as much mine as it is my reviewers' - firstly, because without their encouragement, I may have never completed the story; and secondly and more broadly, because every single piece of feedback I received has not only contributed to shaping this story, but will also impact on the other stories that I plan to write in the future. So, thanks to everyone who reviewed, followed and/or favourited :) Chosen - a Harry Potter fanfic (forthcoming) Summary: Before the beginning of his sixth year at Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy was chosen, out of all the other Death Eaters, to fulfil the Dark Lord’s wishes. It was an honour beyond all honours, they said. But there was a part of him, that echoed in her dreamy singsong voice, that told him that he had not been chosen. He had been cornered – there was no way out, no choice. Or was there? This is a much more ambitious project than my previous story, which was quite spontaneous really. My second fanfic will be planned better, the chapters will be longer as will the story itself. I will also be very careful about the pacing and detailing as I have learnt a lot while writing 'Epiphany' - all thanks to the reviewers. So the first chapter to this one will probably only be up in November. Stay tuned. |
