![]() Author has written 22 stories for Heroes, Discworld, Star Wars, and Silmarillion. I am ... a teacher (Latin and English, secondary school), an illustrator (working in RPG and card games), a mum (two very sweet kids), and a sometime-writer (working on a Medieval Fantasy novel). A few words about... ... canon: I'm an absolute stickler for canon. This means that most of what I write is meant to fill in gaps and explore human (or Elven) relations, and I try not to contradict the subject matter I'm writing about. It also means trying to be faithful to the original characters, and the general spirit of the original. ... my British spelling and usage: I know it's at odds with Heroes, mostly, where even the Irish have "armored cars" and not "armoured cars", but since I learnt British English at school and in my assistant year in Shropshire, and most literature I read is British too, I stuck to BE in all my fanfic as well. The only exceptions are American colloquialisms in dialogue. I'm not a native speaker but feel fairly confident about my writing; if you spot any errors, feel free to point them out, however. ... Paramed(f)ics: You'll find a lot of those here (Unsung Heroes, Control, Wake me up when December ends, One weird day at work, Partners and Chauffeurs, Trauma, Where were you? and Hesam's secret online blog). I'm fascinated by Peter's everyday job as a paramedic (plus, Hesam is an awesome character who needs all the love he can get!) I've been reading a lot about the profession, and have reworked most of my earlier paramedfics since I first wrote them, but I'm sure there are still things I got wrong. If you'd like to see how I envision the original characters from these fics - Karen O'Neill, Nicholas Greentree and some of the others - check out some sketches I did of them. I've put together a "Paramedic terms and lingo" glossary (hoping that everything is mostly correct). I promise to still write my fanfic in a way that you can get by without it, however. XD ...inconsistencies: If you notice these things, you will find that there are inconsistencies with ambulance designations and paramedic's working hours throughout my stories. This is because I just made both up initially, but now that I I know how Manhattan ambulances are named and what shifts Manhattan medics work, you'll find inconsistencies between my older fics, my recent fics, and the older ones that I've managed to update. I hate the "document" system here. It makes it almost impossible to simply go back and correct errors to your work... |
