Hinc Itur Ad Astra (Rated T) - Fairy Tail

The infamous demon E.N.D. comes to a mystic witch of the forest with one request: dispel the Etherious surrounding him to make him entirely human once again. Reluctantly, she agrees, but the process goes awry and instead bounds the two together, and the ensuing encounter with Zeref leads to her losing her Celestial Keys. Now the two have to travel across Fiore in search of a way to get out of their bound, but they find the answer in each other just as much as in separation.

LEGEND [Rewrite] (Rated K/T) - Pokemon

Revolution [Rewrite] (Rated M) - Pokemon

Jormungandr (Rated T) - Pokemon

[Sequel to Yggdrasil.] Giratina saved the twins at the cost of letting itself be captured. Meanwhile, the kids, plus a severely injured Mew and terminal Koko, have risked another anomaly. Things didn't go quite as planned... They realize two anomaly portals were open, one of which somehow landing a legendary inside Mel's body. And Giratina, separated from them by regions, has to get past Team Magma, a persistent legend hunter, and the second unwanted legendary, all while in an injured state itself. Troubles keep piling on between the five of them with no good end in sight, but they're pulling through. After all, what are the consequences if they don't?

Boiling Point (Rated T/M) - Fairy Tail

Somehow, Sorcerer Weekly caught a picture of Natsu and Lucy in a "comprising" position according to the latter. Natsu doesn't see the big deal but Lucy apparently finds the idea of being known as "his girl" so repulsive that she goes out with Loki to start new rumors, and our Dragon Slayer seethes at the fact. It's not until him, Lucy, Loki, and Wendy go on a mission together that he finally reaches boiling point and slams that stupid lion with his stupid pretty face and stupid charisma. Lucy is understandably angry, but he's pretty sated. More adventures in their love-not-love after that.

The Iron Maiden (Rated T) - Fairy Tail

The Redfox family, previously known for underhanded methods of acquiring wealth, had gained quite a sum of money in the metal industry after a lawsuit-induced depression - legally, thank you very much. Still, they have an ill reputation among southern Fiore citizens, and while inheritance is becoming a big deal with them and Metallicana, his son, Gajeel, could care less as long as he has food to eat and faces to punch, not necessarily in that order. One fateful night, an attack seemingly conducted by one of their many enemies has caused the death of the business' president, Metallicana, and once again forcing Gajeel into poverty. Down and out and with no friends to turn to, he takes up a job in the wealthy household of famous author couples and their reclusive daughter. He is given food and board in the loosest sense, and even as he is punished for his family's misdoings daily by the parents, servants, and even their daughter, he swallows his pride to maintain what semblance of a home that they give him. Yet he had no idea of the surprises the McGarden household had for him, namely from their youngest, Levy.

(Sonic and the) Priestess of Disaster (Rated K) - Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic makes a lot of friends on his adventures, sure. There was the Chaotix, Big and Froggy, Blaze, Omega, Chip, even himself and Tails at one point. But like the wind, Sonic comes and goes quickly and doesn't often think back on those he's left behind, one of those being the lonely princess of Soleanna, Elise. Because of who she was - or rather, what she held - she was restricted from much contact with her people, until Sonic met her one day during their usual festival in respect of their god Solaris and became her first friend ever. The fun is cut short as Eggman's found a new way to go about Eggmanland: using what's inside of Elise, the Flames of Disaster, to bend the world to his knees. At the same time, a strange hedgehog by the name of Silver seeks to revive the god Solaris, but for his own motives: to return to the future he was snatched from by Solaris's first appearance in Soleanna.

Journey of a Thousand Miles (Rated T) - Pokemon

Sean Isaac DiCaprio is an adult who refused to be baited into the "awe and glory" of ditching school to become a Trainer. He grew up seeking out the mysteries of the world, and the story begins at the pinnacle of them all: Pokemon Master Red. He ascends Mt. Silver and challenges the man only to find out he's not a man at all. Cursed by Arceus to guard the pathway between the malevolent Legendaries and Earth, the "privilege" goes onto the most powerful Trainer, and since Sean won... He manages to bargain Arceus seven days; seven days to find another way to prevent the Legendaries from escaping into their world, and he gets the one who has been posing as "Red" as his travel buddy, a mysterious and eclectic young boy named Oz.

Yggdrasil (Rated T/M) - Pokemon

Giratina...hates the other legendaries - and that's putting things mildly - for "tasking" it with overseeing a world with no company other than its own mind. But it can't exactly refuse Arceus' whims, even if it despises the notion. Then spacial anomalies begin occurring in the humans' world, and once again, Giratina is tasked with investigating with none of its own input. Possessing a human vessel, a man named Orville, to make traversing easier, it also "enlists" the help of the first humans it finds, Trainer twins named Mel and Linda. Although misanthropic as the rest of its brood (birds of a feather, it supposed) it does find that the two grow on it, and annoyingly enough, so do their morals. This attachment will make it harder when Giratina is faced with its final choice and the answer to its problems.

Natsu and Salamander (Rated T) - Fairy Tail

A day as an officer in Magnolia is never dull with the kind of crap they see on a daily basis. Still, Natsu doesn't find anything especially remarkable until a blonde really gets his blood racing with a better-than-usual chase through the city, which amazingly ends with HIM being the one to get arrested on several charges of arson. Naturally, he has no damn clue what the hell they're accusing him for, but unbeknownst to him, Lucy is interrogating two sides: the usual dimwitted hotheaded policeman, and the much more cunning and arrogant Salamander, both being the same man.

Dragon Taming (Rated T) - Fairy Tail

A tetralogy of NaLu one-shots. "Red Riding Hood" - Lucy's father warned her that the forest held dangerous animals like wolves. She did not expect, however, to see a dragon with his flying blue cat in her grandmother's house. "The Pastry Princess and the Cookie Cutter" - Lucy Heartfilia, strict owner of the Fairy Tail restaurant, meets her match in the unusual employee Natsu Dragneel. "Stay Through the Night" - Natsu is struck by a peculiar form of Dark Magic that causes him to suffer from his worse fears as soon as he closes his eyes, leaving him sleep-deprived and angry and nearly broken. While the others are out looking for the wizard, Lucy is the one staying back with him. "Those Ignorant to History (Are Doomed to Repeat It)" - The embodiment of darkness and herald of the stars have been fighting for centuries and have died each time only to reincarnate. Then, to their surprise, their newest - and final - reincarnation is that of two humans, Natsu and Lucy.

Revolution (Rated T) - Pokemon

A revolution has been going on for the past eight years for Pokemon owned by Trainers; the regions have been thrown into chaos as cities are captured and humans are killed. Pokemon revolutionaries have surfaced to combat the rebels, led by the wise and strong leader Alakazam and including veteran fighter Reyes, who's given the task of recruiting the proclaimed "King" of the rebels, a Zoroark named Dominic, who he finds is crude, overzealous, and - can't forget this one - very insane. Taking him to the revolutionaries' base, Reyes discovers that there are several layers to Dominic's personality, including a past that, given slightly different circumstances, could have been identical to Reyes's. To their surprise and extreme dismay, Alakazam's intent was to get revenge on Dominic for a killing that the latter claimed innocence for, and with Reyes suddenly defending him, both are left running from the rebels and revolutionaries. Dominic swears on his life that he didn't kill anybody related to Alakazam, and while he is a lot of things, he's not a liar, so then why is Alakazam after him?

LEGEND (Rated K) - Pokemon

Eleven years ago, the Pokemon Deoxys rampaged through Pallet Town, razing it to the ground and leaving one boy as the sole survivor. Mew, having previously taken a liking to him, took the boy, Aries, into its world, only to inadvertently cause the exposure of the legendaries' dimension to Giovanni's son Silver, who promptly invaded and mercilessly slashed every Pokemon within. At the start of the story Denise, who runs a Fossil store in Pewter, is visited by Aries and his Pokemon, who are being chased by Pokemon Trainer Blue. One very painful event leads to another, and the two set out to find Silver for Mew's revenge.

All That Glitters [oneshot] (Rated T) - Fairy Tail

The Curse of a Legacy [oneshot] (Rated K) - Fairy Tail

Incendium (Rated T) - Fairy Tail

The story is about Natsu who has been cursed, since he was a child, to cause the inadvertent death of anyone who cares about him. Consequently, he's been avoiding contact with others for his whole life, until he has a forced encounter with a Mage eager to join the Fairy Tail Guild named Lucy. Though he tries to avoid her, she sticks to him, which leads to her apartment catching on fire and her being impaled through the chest. He fears that his past will repeat itself, however, Lucy recovers with zero complications and zero memories of even being hurt. He believes it to be a fluke until. the incident repeats itself, again with her survival, and he realizes that somehow, she can cheat the intended effects of his curse. Meeting her also sets off a chain reaction of events, including a meeting with Guildmaster Sting, who seems to know more about her than he lets on, Jellal Fernandez, who tampers with his Dragon Slayer Magic for personal gain, and Jellal's Edolas other, Mystogun, whose shady dealings are a source of constant worry. When Natsu's new life and new friends and new love are endangered, his sense of self-sacrifice and goodwill are both pushed to the very limit when it becomes a matter of the Fairy Tail Mages' lives versus his own.

The Firelights of Summer (Rated K) - Fairy Tail

Natsu, son of Igneel, a dragon who fought in the war long, long ago, has been imprisoned, along with Gajeel and Wendy, for over a thousand years simply for being dragons, being feared by the rest of the world and therefore locked away and written off as fairy tales. Tired and frustrated with being caged for so long, Natsu devises an escape plan, attempting to fool the King, Jude Heartphilia; however, his plan backfires as the King doesn't fall for his trick and the Anti-Magic shackles force him unconscious. Later, he awakes to find Gajeel knocked out and Wendy in the hands of a hooded bandit. Freeing himself in anger, Natsu chases after him, eventually getting caught by the royal guard; desperate to escape, he grabs a hostage and, freed from the Anti-Magic shackles, turns into a dragon and flies far from to the castle, but to his astonishment, instead of taking a guard, he has instead kidnapped the Princess, Lucy. Then ensues a series of adventures as he attempts to escape not just the royal guard, but also strange figure Mystogun, who has taken a particularly strong interest in Natsu and, eventually, the Princess. Natsu's first trip into the outside world is filled with misadventure, love, loss, and dangerous revelations, and he discovers that freedom has the greatest benefits and cost of anything else in the world.

The One Without A Name (Rated K) - Fairy Tail

Lucy, having been imprisoned as an experiment for the most of her life, finally manages to escape, literally stumbling upon Fairy Tail Mage Natsu Dragneel and partner Happy. They immediately take her to their Guild to recover as Natsu vows to protect her with all he's got. It's soon discovered that while she hates magic, she has the capacity to use virtually any form of it, from Fire to Water to Light to Shadow et cetera, although she has lost the Celestial Keys she once possessed; what's more, a Dark Guild called Chromeadder - the very same one that imprisoned her in the first place - is looking to claim her once more, favoring the power of its two strongest Mages, the Requip Mage Gale and his odd partner, Zephyr. Keeping them away from Lucy, Natsu discovers many new things about her, and while it doesn't change his feelings about her, he does question her alignment, and when it does come down to Fairy Tail or Chromeadder, she makes her choice. [No longer available on , sorry not sorry, it was terrible.]

Consequently, Al has sworn to avenge his family and all else that've perished by taking out the Legendaries single-handedly, which only JC can see as stupid as it sounds. Still, he has very little effect when it comes to changing his brother's mind, and he watches Al push himself to the brink of death several times as he attempts to finish off Legendary Pokemon centuries older and wiser than him, incomprehensibly deadlier as well. He has to show Al the light, and he has to do it before Al sees it himself on his way to Hell. First chapter is on AO3.

Personal Favorite Fan-fictions

In The Shadow of Summer (Fairy Tail) - xxIAmTheSkyxx

Team Natsu goes on a mission that starts out run-of-the-mill when Natsu suddenly collapses. This sets off a chain of traumatic events where Natsu is taken over by something less than human that uses his immense power to cause destruction all over the city, and the others are powerless to stop or even get through to him. The story ended a while back but I still remember it for the visceral descriptions, powerful language, and real heart-wrenching moments. It really should be on anybody's To-Read list.

The Human Species (Pokemon) - ShadedSkies

The main character is a Lucario, although he doesn't remember it that way; to anybody that'll listen, he was a human, and he's trying to figure out how he became a Pokemon and more importantly how to return to being a human. It sounds like a Mystery Dungeon story to people that haven't read it, but the opening line of the story alone will change everything you think about it: "Humanity has finally gotten fed up with their fragile position in the world of Pokemon. Gathering the best of trainers, they have decided to subdue or dispose of every powerful Pokemon in existence." It has over a hundred chapters and reworks a lot of Legendaries' backstories and personalities. There are over a hundred chapters but it's well worth it.

Keyshipping Oneshots (Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL) - Breaking-Benjamin-rules

Breaking-Benjamin gets a word or phrase and turns it into a one-shot - that's all there is to it. But there is great writing and I like reading this once in a while for amusement. It was also one of the very first fan-fiction I've read on this website.

You Don't Know Me (Miraculous Ladybug) - Ferisae

The story starts with Miraculous's usual villain of the week formula, but said villain, "Demoman," (guess what his power is? derp) collapses a building on top of Ladybug, severely injuring her and putting Marinette into a coma. Adrien not only blames himself for not protecting her, but the solo life doesn't work well for Cat Noir, and especially when his attempt to get rid of an Akuma butterfly severely backfires. I have no words for the emotional impact of his story; you can almost taste Adrien/Cat Noir's turmoil as he takes on powerful Akuma on his own and slowly deteriorates over the course of the story until it's hard to tell who exactly is the decrepit one. Well, he's the black cat after all, and he can't ever be the lucky one.

One Black Feather (Kid Icarus) - Shadsie (and 23Blenders)

If you're interested in this story, I'm gonna put it out there now: it does not have a happy ending. In it, Pit catches what he thinks is a bug from a swamp, and Dark Pit watches him grow worse over time until the goddesses realize too late that it wasn't a virus but a parasite, and by then Pit's so damage that his only salvation is an organ transplant, and guess who's the one person compatible with him? This was written very well for how short it is (eight chapters if I remember correctly?).

Alternate Reality/Reality Breach/Breaching Normality (Sonic the Hedgehog) - thekyuubivixen

Alternate Reality begins with Shadow taking an especially hard hit from one of Eggman's 'bots, y'know, harder than usual, and when he wakes up, he's back on the ARK. He gets back to Earth to find things he never expected in the slightest: Knuckles, indolent and apathetic towards the Master Emerald; Tails shy and reserved; Silver, born in the present and with highly unstable emotions; Rouge...who isn't exactly Rouge; and then there's Sonic, the terror of Station Square. 'nuff said. The story is very well written and comes with a lot of twists to keep you guessing all the time. Similarly, it isn't afraid to get dark sometimes, and the emotional roller-coaster rides have a lot of payoff. Alternate Reality is followed by its sequel, Reality Breach, and that is followed by Breaching Normality.

Bury It Forward (Fullmetal Alchemist) - KawasakiTriple

After managing to get a Philospher's Stone, Ed and Al are pursued by the Homunculi. Afterwards, the State Alchemists find Edward battered and in the aftermath of torture with Al nowhere to be found. He does manage to recover somewhat, but retains an odd fixation with rainy days, and a year later he escapes Central and digs Alphonse's armor from the wet mud. Infuriated for being left behind, Al threatens Ed with death and both disappear via the Stone to the Gateway of Truth, and while Al returns with his human and emaciated body, Ed still has all his automail limbs. This story can and will eff up your life. For one thing, the torture that the Homunculi - well, Envy specifically - put Ed through is some real heavy shit. Watching Ed try to recover from it is heavier shit. But damn, out of all the FMA fan-fictions I've read, this is the best, I gotta admit.

Pandemonium (Gintama) - X-parrot

Oh gosh where do I begin...? I've been told fairly often (in the Fairy Tail subgenre at least) that my depictions of the canon characters are very accurate. As a writer, I can't see what you readers do, but this guy (or girl) has such a good comprehension of the cast of Gintama that it's borderline orgasmic. The story begins very basic by Gintama terms--Odd Jobs gets a sorta weird job that leads to them biting off more than they can chew--but the real art in my opinion is where the climax displays all the inner thoughts of the Shinsengumi on Gintoki and his friends. There's so much...aaugh, there's so much beauty in the author's articulation of their inner thoughts that I can imagine them as real people thinking this way about Gintoki. Even expressing their level of power is so accurate, I love it.

Bringing Out the Bluemaguena1, Zuko's Tiny Dilemma [Boogum, In His Shoes [AvocadoLove] (Avatar, The Last Airbender)

I'm breaking a personal rule of "one story per fandom" but I will literally be torn into pieces if I have to pick one of these masterpieces over the other. Very quick summary on each since I'm still trying to contrain myself: Bringing Out the Blue is a what-if scenario about Aang never discovering the Blue Spirit's identity as Zuko, so Zuko uses the opportunity to spy on Team Avatar and competely unintentionally growing closer to them and seeding personal doubts; Zuko's Tiny Dilemma has a f-nugget Spirit curse Zuko into a young child and Iroh into a pot of tea (guess he's not complaining tho) and they end up getting picked up by Team Avatar, and Zuko ends up growing closer to them among his charade; In His Shoes is the one I like for plot and not characters (not saying I hate the character arcs--still beautiful) and is very drastic in where Sokka and Zuko encounter and mutilate each other, and are granted a second chance by Yue and Agni--but in each other's bodies, and they can't tell anybody about the switch.

Life Could Have Been So Different (Sonic The Hedgehog) - Taranea

I cannot stress enough that in my humble opinion, Taranea is the absolute master of fleshing out game details, whether in adaptations or linking games together through her own concocted details. This story is a bit of a what-if: Tails is dead, Sonic is a mess, and Shadow snaps him out of it by telling him his (or rather, Taranea's) account of everything that happened on the ARK, starting from his creation by Gerald Robotnik. She has very interesting takes on his relationship with Maria and the Professor, as well as a young Vincent Graves, and the occasional lapses into present time with Emo!Sonic and Notasemo!Shadow are just as well written as the past. The ending, while satisfying, is also very poignant, and does come with just a bit of a twist.
