For tv, I'm a big fan of Psych, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Once Upon A Time, Angel, Pushing Daisies, Merlin, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Castle, Firefly, and many others. For books, I love the Percy Jackson series, the Harry Potter series, May Bird, Les Miserables, anything by Jane Austen, anything by Agatha Christie, Catcher in the Rye, the Sherlock Holmes books, and so many others that I can't think of at the moment.
