![]() Author has written 5 stories for Venture Brothers, Inspector Gadget, and Danny Phantom. I am Geek, hear me... uh, collate comic books? Okay so Geeks really don't do many loud things. There are exceptions I realize: Mc Chris and LARP come to mind. For the most part we keep to ourselves and talk about Geek things. Like what's the scientific reason that a fairy glows, or who is a better captain, Pacard or Kirk. For this we are mocked and made outcasts. Thank god for sites like this that allow us to stretch out our geek legs ,and converse and share our Geekdom with others. Geek is a way of life. Remember that when out in the world. We are people, Geek is what we do. A little about me: First off, let it be known that I'm slower at typing than a turtle with a jet pack turned the wrong way, but I do my best. Second, I have been may things in my life and I am proud of it all(well most of it): college drop out (printing 2 years) Illustrator comic book artist (never published, yet) construction worker grease monkey warehouse worker artist (google 'Derrick Brinson' and you will find an article called 'Derrick's Magic Pen' and I am called Dto on ) Wal-mart employee Grocery store employee Grocery store manager Band roadie pressed leather and sold leather and knives Security for a night club I have two websites (/oopsprodutions/mos and /dhenderson/nowloading) I've also done many construction jobs and other stuff that I've probably forgotten all about, but I have never thought of myself as a writer. That mantle was tossed onto me. About 10 years ago I started a manuscript for a video game in high school with three other guys (I'm old but not that old) and one of them was supposed to write it but the other two dropped out of the project. It was finally finished two years ago and I'm doing a final rewrite on it but, though I feel that I have finally hit my stride as a writer, I'm still not that confident in my abilities. I need help to let me know if I have what it takes or if I am just wasting my time. Since I was a kid I've loved books, comics, and movies. I spent much of my time taking apart their stories, like a puzzle, and either putting them back together in an even more pleasing shape or filling in missing pieces. Then I found fanfiction in high school when this site was still new (check out dudeslayer he's the one who turned me on to this site). Its just the same as what I would do when a kid. Its all the 'What If's and filling in plot holes. I found myself reading fanfiction for stuff I would never watch and loving it. I'm to this day still a fan of Strikfiss's Sailor Moon AR fan fics and I have never seen the show or read more than a page of the manga. I have simply never thought that I was good enough to join the ranks. So I ask you to let me know. Do I hit the mark or should I stick to what I'm good at? What I think doesn't matter because it comes down to what you want to read as the veiwer. Thank you for your time and patience. Happy Hunting! dlb |
